Is there any chance that a rethug such as Murkowski or Romney would change parties (Original Post) Beachnutt Feb 2021 OP

And that was from R to Independent. And then she went back to R.
Even if they caucused with the Dems, they would still vote like they do now.

At best, they would go Indie but still caucus and vote with repubs 90% of the time or more.

That's a pipe dream.

I think the only way Romney would is if he was done with politics at the end of his current term. Merkowski said she wouldn’t but I’d imagine could change her mind. She is up for re-election in 2022 and won with a write in last time so she could win again with either letter behind her name.

They’d be a bigger pain in the ass for us than Manchin is.

He is surviving as a Dem in a state that went for Trump by almost 40 points;
and, if it weren’t for him, McConnelmwould be running the Senate.

Why do people keep suggesting such a ridiculous idea. Murkowski and Romney are life long republican conservatives who won't support most Democratic policies. You'd be telling them to "go to hell" as well.

and Romney, despite his rational response to Trump, is still a plutocratic supply-sider whose views on economics are pretty much anathema to Democrats.
