(51,284 posts)There was a rickety old bridge that was part of the access to our home ...
It survived the flood of 93 and again in 95 ...
It made me nervous .... I looked at the piling under it one day and realized it was shifting ... I went to the County Commission meeting and told them it was unsound ... they told me I didnt know what I was talking about ... I quit driving across it ... taking a much longer path out ...
About 6 weeks later, the bridge collapsed ... it was out for about 2 years, until they could get a government grant to help pay for it ... the local farmers could not access their fields ...

Emailing both him and littlemarco is like talking to 4 year olds. they don't discuss policy they just run a line of bullshit a mile or two long.
I've come to realize that floriduh politics is like a sinkhole. Last decent gov was Bob Graham. The rest of the time it's been more than sad for the citizens but through gerrymandering the pukes stay in office.
How do we change that?

(34,136 posts)My husband's first father in law was a bridge inspector in the South East US, working out of North Florida. Back in the early 1970s he'd come back from inspection tours and give his family a list of bridges to avoid driving over. Fortunately, most have not failed as he predicted, but poor maintenance on bridges has been a problem for over fifty years now.
I guess pRick needs something like the bridge failure of Minneapolis I-35W bridge to convince him that we need to pay for bridges.
Security camera images show the collapse in animation, looking north.

I think of all the bridges in South Florida and wonder how his rich friends would like it if they failed.
