(7,778 posts)Good grief. I wonder if she could even tell she was "a bit pitchy".

(12,441 posts)Being off-key, that is.
CPAC itself is off-key, out of whack and dissonant. They found their perfect anthem singer.

But that cringy "rocket's red glare" line blew out my eardrums.
It's time to change the National Anthem. "O Beautiful" or "This Land is Your Land" or even the power ballad from Star Trek Enterprise would be an improvement.

She definitely doesnt need to sing a cappella!

(11,864 posts)The melody is from a rather maudlin drinking song. The best version of the anthem I ever heard (this wasnt it) was on July 4, 1976. One of the morning shows had a young woman sing it. If I remember correctly, she was a first grade teacher from Indiana. She sang all four verses at that tempo. It took nearly ten minutes, but it was inspiring.

(3,851 posts)She needs to choose songs that are within her range . . . whatever that is. I mean, high notes are not her friend.

(151 posts)That was horrible! Some would-be singer with no sense of pitch! Lemme guess on the identitya daughter of some CPAC higher up, who begged daddy to get her the solo that was all she needed to break into the music biz... (okay, I watched the princess and the frog last night, with the super-rich and utterly besotted dad.)
