Someone ask Gov. Noam if traffic lights in South Dakota invade her freedom

...and personal responsibility to decide for herself when to enter an intersection or not. Telling me that I have to stop and wait in traffic is an invasion of my freedom!!

A traffic light is devise used for the public safety of the drivers and pedestrians in that area. If everyone was more considerate of others then I am sure Traffic lights would not be needed. But we live in a society that has a large percentage of selfish bastards who make it dangerous for the rest of us.
For those confused- This is a parallel for government mandated COVID-19 precautions. If everyone was considerate of others and social distanced with mask, sure there is no need for a mandatory requirement.
It is a public safety requirement made by leaders of a society, not an invasion of her damn freedom or liberty.

“ If Men were angels, no government would be necessary”

opposition to seatbelt laws is well known, as is opposition to federally mandated DUI standards.

And we all know what republicans think about paying taxes.

Trump no like mask. Covid is a hoax. They’re in so deep they can’t go back now.

when a traffic light is not functioning the intersection is to be treated like it is a 4-way stop sign. My observation has been that a large percentage of people don't know this.

Just today, instate traffic filed down to one lane for 17 miles at a snails pace. flashing signs, traffic cones, ‘merge now’ signs well in advance....left me wondering what the percentage of assholes still decided to drive down the shoulder and “cut” in at the last second ahead of those abiding by the rules. My best estimate was about 33%, but I dare to wager that each of those selfish bastards were Trump supporters. Cheating is in their DNA

The Governor of South Dakota is Kristi Noem.

Few towns in SoDak have stoplights (Sioux Falls, Brookings, Aberdeen, Mitchell, Pierre, Watertown, Rapid City). I suspect her answer would be "it's a purely local decision that the state should not be involved with." As a practical matter, I suspect she'd be philosophically opposed. Keep in mind that speed limits on the interstate in SoDak are 80; seldom enforced; and if you do wreck, you'll most likely be attended by volunteer EMTs. It's a very different mindset north of I-80 between M/SP and the West Coast.
