One Saturday last winter a 66-year-old woman in northeastern Butler County put a gun to her head and killed herself.
One other woman and 13 men ended their lives the same way in the county in 2020.
The 15 gunshot wounds, all to the head, were the leading cause of self-inflicted death last year, some 40.5 percent of the countys 37 suicide deaths. Hangings accounted for another 13, followed by 3 intentional drug overdoses and 2 suicides by train.
The Butler County Suicide Prevention Coalition plans to create pamphlets that can be distributed at firearm stores with advice about suicidal behaviors. Such pamphlets used elsewhere in Ohio can help curb gun access to those who may be considering killing themselves.

(22,923 posts)More often than not I'll read an article like this and the only geographical reference is Butler County. Probably every state has a Butler County. I then have to search (because there's a never-ending scroll feature and "About Us" isn't something I readily find) to find where the paper is located.
Same thing with dates. This article has the date, but has anyone else landed on articles (on reputable sites, though I can't think of specific ones right now) and can't find a date?
Or am I in my own Twilight Zone and the only one who has encountered this?

(20,605 posts)can blow up into a full crisis in the isolation of Covid. This happened to a friend. She spent a month in the mental hospital and was released with no follow-up care. We need to keep an eye on each other.
