Finally getting over the urge to sleep all day. Docs say that my antibodies plus the vax put me in high safe zone, but they're still keeping a close eye on me. In that, I'm one of the lucky ones.

(15,798 posts)Apparently, it was an episode that I mistook for an unusually intense COPD flare; used my bipap during the day for a few days.

(26,248 posts)I had zero reaction to my first Pfizer jab, but then I've never had a reaction to any vaccination, and I had a whole lot when I was in the military. Not sure why I was kind of worried about this one.
I get the 2nd on March 18. Hopefully that will be as easy, but if not, it's still beyond worth it.

Husband will be two weeks post 2nd Moderna vax tomorrow. He didnt have a single side effect. He saw on CNN that having Neanderthal DNA hopes you have no side effects. His ancestors are from Croatia where Neanderthal remains were found in the 70s. 😬

Other large animals went extinct about the same time, and that period also coincides with the earliest known cave paintings in places like Europe and Indonesia... done with red ochre which is also a good sunscreen! (The ozone layer was likely depleted from cosmic rays and solar radiation freely colliding with the atmosphere.)

Edit: Or maybe you mean their DNA from ancient burials? Either way, yeah, it's cool that they left it behind.

But the other interpretation is good too.

(34,329 posts)I had my first shot last Tuesday and felt great, didn't even have much of a sore arm, but I was unbelievably tired Friday. I ended up taking a 4-hour nap in the middle of the day and yesterday still felt dragged out. I'm ok today, though. I'm wondering if I just needed sleep (didn't have any issues the night before) or if that was a side effect of the shot because it seems like most folks have a reaction the next day, not 3 days later.
madamesilverspurs
(15,798 posts)I'm used to napping during the day, so no surprise there. They did advise no tylenol or ibuprofen on the day of the shot and for two days following, since those can mask certain side effects that should be noted. My joints weren't happy, but at least I knew why.

I got my first Pfizer shot last Monday. I think it was Thursday that was not a good day for me, but it might have been Friday. I woke up just before 1 a.m. and couldn't get back to sleep until 5. Slept for a couple of hours and then just felt tired and generally yucky almost the entire day.
Also, around the same time, my neck started hurting on the same side that I got the shot.
Nothing was extreme, and I can't really say if it was a side effect of the vaccine, and then it all just went away in the evening and I felt just fine.

(3,818 posts)No reaction after the first shot except a sore arm. Woke up today not feeling well at all with chill, aches, nausea, headache and feeling wiped out. All I did was lay on the couch and was
watch. Finally starting to feel better.

(17,413 posts)Sore arm and lethargy for about 2 days after the shot. That cleared up nicely. Yesterday, I got about 6 or 7 chicken pox looking sores near the vaccination site, and the site was burning hot to the touch, but not painful. That now seems to be improving a bit.
I hope you continue to feel better!

(34 posts)I had no side effects on this first one but neither did my 40-year-old son, who has a civilian job in the VA in New Mexico. After his second shot, he had violent chills and had to stay underneath blankets for a few days. My oldest son took me to the vaccination site and I told him he probably wouldn't have to come down with me again. Now, I'm having second thoughts about driving there alone. My next one is on the 16th.

(13,530 posts)One night had some sinus and head cold symptoms. But was it a side effect or just allergies? And that's the trouble one doesn't know if some pain or ache is what you would have had anyway or if it was a side effect.
I really hope we get enough vaccine amassed so that everybody can get one, and soon.
