And maybe occasionally West coast Hollywood elites as well.

Reagan - rich, west coast Hollywood guy.

Bush Sr. - East coast rich elite.

Shrub - East coast rich elite. Fake Texan.

Trump - East coast rich elite.

What is it about the elite that they get so amped out about again?

They rail against them, but then keep electing them? Something doesn't quite compute here.
