James S. Henry and David Cay Johnston, DC Report @ Rawstory
March 01, 2021
However we decide to account for Donald Trump's astonishing rise and fall, we now know that he was certainly no stranger to a sprawling netherworld of Russian gangsters and oligarchs.
Now there are stunning new allegations in federal court documents that this Russian criminal network with worldwide reach hired Felix Sater, one of Trump's closest associates, to hide a fortune stolen in Kazakhstan.
The central Asian country was once part of the Soviet Union. The stolen fortune cited in the lawsuit is the tip of the iceberg. Keep reading.
Stolen money amounting to $440 million was invested in America and run through trust funds maintained by Moses & Singer. The New York City law firm has long represented Sater, a Soviet-born American.

If you are the leader of a Russia far too weak to conduct a successful armed invasion of North America, and you can disable the government of the USA for less than a billion dollars, what greater bargain can you possibly imagine? And you don't fire a single shot or lose a single soldier.
Now THERE is an offer you can't refuse.

(32,634 posts)The facts were suggested, and suspicions of law-abiding Americans were stirred up long ago concerning Chump's Russian connections. Long before he declared himself a candidate for the presidency, Chump was already a candidate for federal prison due to the money-laundering services he provided for the Russian mob.
Why didn't Mueller explore the connection between Chump and the Russian mafia? Thoughtful Americans will conclude that Chump's Russian connections were the thing that enabled him to run for the presidency in 2015.
Props to David Cay Johnston - a terrific investigative reporter who has followed the Chump story for most of his career.

(9,977 posts)Muellers hands were tied, but others in the FBI assumed that Trumps financial ties to Russia were being investigated. One would think that a leak from Mueller or his team could have brought attention to the fact that Mueller was not being allowed to investigate perhaps the single most important aspect of Trumps allegiance to Russia.
While Barr most certainly would have prevented such an investigation after he became AG, couldnt such an investigation be made now? Or have all the records and evidence been destroyed? Of course, that assumes that we someday actually have a new AG. Its now almost six weeks since Bidens inauguration. Thats a long time to be without a chief law enforcement head for the country. I hope his vote goes through this week.

(70,499 posts)... launder their money for years. Trump has been aware of these activities all along.
BTW It turns out that Barr and Rosenstein had Mueller boxed in and stopped from getting
Trump all along. However we do need to see the Mueller Report.

(11,563 posts)He was trying to tidy up loose ends that he became apparent to even his family that something was up. When asked about it, Sater was reported to have said "Getting ready to go to prison, and Donald will follow me there" or words to that effect.
That really buoyed my spirits for a while, but then nothing came of it. THAT was disheartening.

(107 posts)I think about this all the time. Back then he also said something to the effect that his would soon become a household name. It sounded like he had reason to believe shit was soon to go down and hed be going down with it. Then... crickets.

(9,117 posts)Just imagine, for at least fifteen minutes to at least half an hour, that some big-name Democrat had been hobnobbing with Russian gangsters and laundering money for Russian oligarchs. Would you feel comfortable with it? Would you think that such a person ought to be in a position of trust? Is that person in a position to be pressured or blackmailed? Do you want a Commander in Chief that can be pressured or dictated to by our country's adversaries?
Think about it.

Think about it and wonder why even Cold War liberals have decided that Trumpism isn't something patriotic Americans ought to be doing.

(5,801 posts)is that, fairly early on in the campaign, I heard an interview with David Cay Johnston during which he laid out red don's mobbed up history and extensive criminal connections. Surely, I thought, it was only a matter of time before this information was widely covered in the media and the candidacy immediately sunk by such sordid and shocking history.

One of the main things every dictator in the world does is loot the treasury. They know their days are numbered and they all think they'll get away in time to enjoy a mink lined retirement at the seashore. Enough of the world's banking industry is unregulated and unscrutinized that they get away with the theft.
I often think the main reason Putin and his compatriots were so eager to push Brexit was to keep London banks relatively unregulated. They asked so few questions about where the wire transfers were coming from and where they were going.
Here's a quickie guide:

(5,128 posts)Giuliani knew all about this. Did you know Rudys dad was an enforcer for the Mob? Remember when he took down the Five Families? With informants? And how one of his informants got his signature 5th Ave tower completed during a strike by a mob controlled union?
Did you know Felix Sater is the guy who GOT the satellite phone number of bin Laden which led to his extermination in Pakistan? Ever wonder who got that number to FBI informant Sater?
Ever wonder how the FBI field office in NYC kept leaking information about Hillarys emails? And who was feeding it to them?
Remember when Sater told Putin henchmen that he was going to get our guy elected? Do you know what the Bratva is? Or who Semion Mogilevich is?
An entire political party is being extorted by mobsters and youre watching it.
