Trump unleashes new threat to American democracy at CPAC

Donald Trump has no remorse about the deadly violence he incited with his lies about a stolen election in his uprising against the US Congress.

This much was clear when the ex-President put the Republican Party on notice on Sunday that he intends to use his hold on its grassroots to try to suppress the vote heading into the presidential election in 2024, in which he hinted he might run. In his first public remarks since leaving the White House, he also dangerously lashed out at Supreme Court justices for failing to intervene to throw him the election he clearly lost to President Joe Biden.

"They should be ashamed of themselves for what they've done to our country ... the Supreme Court didn't have the guts or the courage to do anything about it," Trump fumed in an authoritarian speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference, in Orlando, Florida, referring to false fraud claims thrown out by multiple judges.

Last seen leaving Washington in disgrace, the ex-President's self-regarding wander through old political fights emphasized his obsession with revenge at a time when the attention of the majority of the nation not in his camp is concentrating on more immediate concerns.

Trump at CPAC called out his GOP critics and again claimed he won the 2020 election, showing he's still determined to undermine US democracy

In the wake of the Capitol riot, Donald Trump's political career seemed over.

The attack prompted concerns that Trump's refusal to accept his defeat in the November election was not just a cynical ploy to maintain his hold over supporters but a threat to US democracy. Administration officials told Reuters that Trump's refusal to accept his defeat would permanently stain his political brand.

But less than two months later, Trump is back, unrepentant, and again pushing his myth that the election was somehow stolen from him by Democrats, disloyal Republicans, and their supposed allies in the judiciary and the media.

In his speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Sunday - his first speech since leaving the White House on January 20 - Trump repeated the lie that he was the real victor of the 2020 presidential election.

He needs to be arrested. He needs to be incarcerated. He cannot run for office if he is a felon.

He might not be able to vote, but I'm not certain about a felon being excluded from running for office.

And not to be overly dramatic, but Hitler emerged from prison as a far more dangerous demagogue than before his trial and incarceration.

The best course would be to try and convict him of sedition and/or treason. THAT would certainly exclude him from office.

Of course, Congress could do this pre-emptively by legislation, but that's unlikely to get past the Senate.

He will finish what he started which is destroying the American way of life. The man is a menace and needs to be put far far away in prison.

called Faux News, OANN, RT, Facebook, hundreds of right-wing talk radio stations and our MSM networks with a R-W bias.

How can his lies NOT be heard on every street corner?.....

I'm just grateful he no longer has the bully pulpit.
