A big problem beyond minimum wage - too many low wage jobs just above it that need pushed up

It doesn't look like the wage increase will happen with the current bill - fine, whatever, as long as Democrats do push for a wage increase ideally with built in future increases. Enough of this one and done shit.

I think it's even smart and possible to turn this lack of inclusion into a long term win.

If they don't want $15 now, well ok, build up to it, BUT also have in the bill a timeframe for $17, $20 and beyond... something.

Additionally, there are WAAAYYY too many jobs that are sitting at $10... or even the low teens that should be already be higher.

Part of this is the extremely low minimum wage. EVERYTHING needs pushed up.

It can be scary. I started with a convalescent hospital when I was getting 2.50/hr got it up to 3.50. Had a lot of implicit threats by management and backstabbing by coworkers who thought they could get special deals with front office.

Many states have a minimum wage law above the federal one, while a few states have no law at all. My state already passed a $15 minimum wage law, which is being phased in (I think it’s currently up to $12). The city I live in is going even faster:

Effective July 1, 2021:

The minimum wage for large employers (21 employees or more)will increase to $15.00 per hour. The minimum wage for tipped workers of large employers will be $9.00 per hour.
The minimum wage for small employers (4-20 employees) will increase to $14.00 per hour. The minimum wage for tipped workers of small employers will be $8.40 per hour.
The minimum wage for youth workers will increase to $11.00 per hour. The minimum wage for tipped youth workers will be $6.60 per hour.

If other states and cities join in in enacting laws, it might help to make other states and cities to gear up for increases to compete.

$15 minimum wage that automatically adjusts will lift wages of those just above. It will make employers compete for workers, which means higher salaries.
