(25,962 posts)Things are back on track with vaccinations and practically guaranteed to gather a more steam over time. It's wonderful.

(33,321 posts)The Army should be deploying teams with automatic vac-dart guns, spraying down grocery stores and Wal-marts. The Air Force should be launching missiles with cluster-vacs over metropolitan areas. Has no one sent vaccination drones over trailer parks yet? Seals should be invading all those interview diners and giving MAGAts sore arms! (Forget deploying jarheads; you'll never convince a Marine to not try to shove the needle -through- the target).
Ok, maybe Biden's plan is more efficient and kinder, but you gotta admit it would make headlines doing it my way.
Hey, I'd give people reason to stop the spread: Stay hidden (isolated) or get shot!

(25,962 posts)To my then small self, the line for the smallpox vaccination gun in grade school didn't seem far off of what you describe here. The jet injector is no longer used, thank goodness, but boy the school nurse sure did have a rapid fire pace back in the day.

(5,524 posts)By my calculations, we passed 50 mil on February 25th and are already up to 60 million as of yesterday.
https://www.bloomberg.com/graphics/covid-vaccine-tracker-global-distribution/
We were at 17 million on Jan 20th
We hit 68 million on on Feb 25th (ie 51 million)
We hit 77 Million yesterday. 60 million! In about 40 days.
Even better, after the deep freeze really put a damper on the numbers, they have really bounced back this week. They did 2.4 million per day on Saturday and Sunday.
I suspect they will reach 200 million in the original 100 day time frame. And I think that will represent about 120 million people fully vaccinated when you take it all into account. that would be about
I am feeling very optimistic about where we are. Combining the progress so far with the addition of the third vaccine I think we are looking good.

Isn't it wonderful to have leaders who are NOT TRYING TO KILL US ALL?

(5,801 posts)and other QOPee voters appreciate the turnaround from "no plan" under the orange anus????
I wonder how much of this great story--illustrating the difference competent government can make--will penetrate the disinformation bubble?

I just wish Canada was able to make similar progress, but unfortunately, we don't have a juggernaut of a pharmaceutical industry. Here, we are expecting a shipment of something like 140,000 doses in the next week or so. 140,000 doses for 5,000,000 people. At a rate of a shipment like that every couple of months, we should be done vaccinating all our people by shortly after your next general election. Our govt. is saying they'll get it done this year, but I really can't see how.
I'm trying not to suspect the US pharma industry of punishing Canada for upsetting its pricing models. It seems to me that our best hope is to cheer on American efforts so the national vaccination program can be wound down quickly. At that point, even scraps left over from such a massive program would be enough to make a major dent here.
GO MR. BIDEN and his mighty, mighty plan!
