Heard on radio that ** blamed high oil prices on Biden at CPAC

Oil prices fell sharply when ** became president and they stayed down for his entire term.

In the six weeks that Biden’s been in office, gas prices have shot up 25% in my area. I paid $40 for a fill up recently when it’s cost about $30 the last four years.

What’s happened over the last six weeks to precipitate this kind of rise?

I paid attention to gas prices his whole term because it smacked of manipulation. Lowered gas prices bolstered the economy—even though the economy still ran into serious trouble, especially right before the first impeachment. I observed prices drop lower when the Khashoggi murder happened and I wondered then if correlating price declines were connected.

Just my observations...

1. People are Viking out of lockdown, raising prices.

2. Gas stations in Texas have had to import gasoline from out-of-state for the first time in decades, becoming another source of price competition.

Being half Swedish, living in Stockholm, and with lineage traced back on my father's side to actual Vikings from the Uppsala and Sigtuna areas, I have to ask what that means, lol.

Why Swype keyboard for Android changed "people are coming out of lockdown" into "people are Viking..." I have no idea.

Sorry for the confusion.

It’ll take weeks for Exxon, Marathon and Total to repair and restart damaged Texas refineries

Four of Texas’ largest refineries are discovering widespread damage from the deep freeze that crippled the state this week and expect to be down for weeks of repairs, raising the potential for prolonged fuel shortages that could spread nationwide.

Exxon Mobil Corp.’s Baytown and Beaumont plants, Marathon Petroleum Corp.’s Galveston Bay refinery and Total SE’s Port Arthur facility all face at least several weeks to resume normal operations, people familiar with the situation said. Gasoline prices at the pump could reach $3 a gallon in May as long outages crimp supply ahead of the driving season, said Patrick DeHaan, head of petroleum analysis for retailer tracker GasBuddy.

In much of 2018 & 2019 gas prices are near this level and at certain points in the Midwest they were $2.99. The only reason gas prices were low in 2020 is COVID. Gas prices when it occupied the White House wasn't always a bed of roses.

As has been the case once we get out of the dead of Winter gas prices start to rise. Refinery maintenance in the spring keeps prices relatively high.

Who cares what the dog and pony show over the weekend said about gas prices.
