True to form, the idiots in Memphis appear to have majorly screwed up vaccine handling, according to numerous news reporrs (link below).
At first I thought this was just qpubes picking on Dems for school closures because initially news had state health officials complaining about over 1K vaccine doses that were spoiled/wasted due to a huge winter storm. People here are not accustomed to driving in snowstorms so this to me was reasonable.
Now even the health dept. Leader says they (illegally) stockpiled 50,000 doses to save them for teachers, raising the question of whether the doses were past the 10-day refrigerated shelf life.
My question is whether vaccines would likely be delivered directly to each county health department, or if a more likely scenario would be a mass drop off at the main health department in the area, with vaccines being under their care until delivered to smaller health departments nearby?
I got my 1st Pfizer vaccine last friday in a different, smaller county that is next to shelby county where vax mishandlimg is said to have occurred in major ways.
I feel fine, but am wondering whether the vaccine I received was neutralized by improper handling.
I have made several calls to attempt to discern probability, with results typical of this idiotic region. Pharmacist: "Listen, I just give vaccines. I don't know nuthin' 'bout where it come from." Just 1 example.
They have not even released the manufacturer's name which was likely affected - might have been both for all I know.
News is suggesting a titer test for antibodies, which I might have to do, but would prefer to know if my vax lot was processed through stupidville, or delivered directly to the county health dept. Where my vax was administered.
Here is link to one fairly thorough article, although it is devoid of specific information such as mfr., lot #s, etc.
Thoughts? Tyia!
