(11,755 posts)We saw this most significantly with Trump, but it is rampant in the Republican party and conservative movement. They project how they see the world (and themselves) onto others. Trump is a crook and has nothing by devious intentions, so he thinks that everyone else does as well. Republicans cheat to win elections so they accuse Democrats of wanting to, or trying to do the same. They cannot understand that Democrats encourage more participation in voting because we honestly believe that our policies are better and will make life better for everyone. Republican leaders know that their policies only serve the wealthy and powerful, so they have to keep the voting population down and then rile up their base to get out and vote. They have all kinds of dirty tricks.
