honestly: what can we do about Joe manchin?

Granted, I know we only have a 50 50 hold in the Senate. ! also dislike the idea of us losing the senate, where we know Mitch will sprint to his old chair. However, we cannot pretend that if he kneecaps us again, we can keep the Senate, as there will be people who genuinely think we can keep what little we won back. What can realistically be done to make him get in line?

Both ME and PA would appoint/elect a Dem replacement who would make Manchin powerless.

I'm sure it brings in a good deal of revenue for WVa. I know Pennsylvanians visit it as it borders our the sw counties. We could boycott that. Mountaineer is another casino visited by Keystone staters.

before the 2022 midterms. Republicans are losing voters, we need to avoid doing things that idle those voters or make them think that maybe republicans are not total monsters. Given that republicans have a lot more Senate seats up, we should be able to flip several of them if good candidates are chosen and our side doesn’t kneecap them with thoughtless phraseology that republicans pounce on.

The post 2022 US Senate should see Dems with at least a two seat majority, neutralizing Manchin.

People have been telling me for a decade now about the benefits of having a Senator from a red state in our caucus when it's important, that he's on our side when we vote on 'core' issues. IMO we're still waiting to see those benefits come to fruition.

The best fix for Joe Manchin is two new Democratic Senators from Puerto Rico.

Other than that number needed to get the majority, he's not good for much else.

Unlike so-called "moderates" on the other side (Collins etc) he can't even be relied on to vote with Democrats when it counts.

I guess someone's gotta make sure Democrats don't have the chance to help the American public, or even ensure that democratic Americans will be allowed to vote.

We have a good chance in Pennsylvania, and I believe in North Carolina, if our side select a strong candidate that isn’t into shit that they are hiding. Republicans think that they will take back Warnock’s seat, my guess is they don’t. Ohio and Wisconsin are potential pickups, but our side need to nominate savvy candidates that plain talk to people, work their asses off, and builds a powerful ground organization - and, oh yes, don’t have hidden sexual or other stuff out there that will bail out the republican.

wants $300/wk extra UC instead of $400, and that the Am Recovery Act is too expensive. All of these things would help WVa. Not to mention the bill as current is supported by the state's R governor.

Washington DC statehood = + 2 Dem Senators.

That would shut down Manchin's crap of folding during the most inopportune times and handing veto power to Mitch with his abuse of the filibuster.

Let's get this show on the road,... 2022 midterms will be here before we realize. The Dems must revamp this ailing government and show concrete benefits Team Biden brought for the common Jane & Joe.

No tangible results - we lose the House and Senate - by the skin on your teeth majorities.

There are four US Senate seats that we should be able to flip with the right candidate. And I believe that Warnock holds his Georgia seat, that would put us up +4 seats. It is possible that Murphy can upend Rubio in Florida if she decides to run, but that would be an unexpected upset - she does have the tools to take him down and she appears to be one that will take the fight to him. I really would hope that Suarez in Miami would change parties and run against Rubio, he acts more like a moderate-progressive Democrat than a republican.

We need to realize that if we are going to run a 50 state Senate race, we will elect more people like Manchin, Hickenlooper, Angus King and Simena.

...that we will at least be getting a huge stimulus bill followed be an even bigger infrastructure/jobs bill, all of Biden’s cabinet, dozens of federal judges and hopefully a replacement for 82 year old Breyer on the Supreme Court. Without the bare majority Manchin is giving us, we get none of that and likely a 7-2 conservative Supreme Court in the near future. A this point the reality is that we are likely to lose one or both houses of Congress in 2 years no matter what Manchin does..
