They'll probably be much happier with Rahm, than Tanden
He'd actually be a well qualified choice.
But it's just twitter chatter so who knows
I find it hard to believe he'd breeze through confirmation.
The right might like him better, but he'll get the same, or worse, treatment from the left.

(2,868 posts)Tanden is wicked smart and a huge policy wonk. Emanuel is, well, not.

(15,325 posts)I think they kinda fked up , if Rahm actually ends up being Biden's next choice.
Maybe it's just twitter chatter.

And nothing to pay down the citys debt load, while the TIF funds continued to grow and be disbursed to developers. He flatly refused to touch half a billion dollars that could have helped the city.
Im not bashing - just telling it like it is, as I lived there during his term.

(15,325 posts)...hearing an opinion from someone who lived the Rahm experience is useful.
I've also heard some of his really strong points but he seems a person of controversy.

(6,420 posts)Unfortunately it didnt translate well when he took office. He just came across as inflexible. There was some talk about revitalization of the south/west sides, but very little ever materialized. All the funds and development went elsewhere. Just more of the same thats been going on for decades.

(2,173 posts)I couldn't agree more. He was a terrible mayor on many levels. No need to get into details here, suffice to say I hope he stays out of the Biden administration. A caveat, he would absolutely demolish Trump in any confrontation from verbal to physical

(7,319 posts)To me, it was fairly obvious the GOP was looking for some kind of "victory" in refusing one of Biden's nominations. Well, they got that...but, now with Rahm, who is a well known budget hawk, to their dismay....and if they refuse, they look for the worse. I can see it now:
GOP Senator: Do you believe in balanced budgets?
Rahm: Absolutely! Lets start by increasing the tax rates for Congress.

If Biden chose him, I'd support that nomination. Joe Biden is the President and should choose whoever he wants.
