Instead of bringing it up publicly much later. How hard can it be to tell a guy to knock it off with the sex talk? Women are not fragile creatures incapable of standing up for themselves.

I was hoping he would resign earlier, but I think his statement will make a difference. It does to me anyway.

He'll brazen it out for two weeks and it will be as much a topic of conversation as Northam's blackface costumes have been the last year or so: meaning, nada.

Democrats should not die on this hill.
What he is saying is BS. He has young daughters, how would he feel if his daughters told him this was occurring with their boss.
I've been wondering the same about people here. So you are telling me if your 25 yr old daughter, who is just getting started in her career, gets a job working for the most powerful 63 yr old man in the state, comes home and tells you he is making me uncomfortable with his sexual innuendos, and sexual talk, you would not be livid? Oh really.

From a political standpoint, there's an election next year. He needs to step down and hand the reigns to the Lt Gov so that he is not a distraction in the next election cycle. I can see the ads that the republicans will make about this, the nursing home deaths and anything else he's adjacent to.

I praised him for his pandemic response. I understand that most people are not all bad, or not all good. (With the exception of trump et al)

Aside from what I think about his behavior, for the good of the party he should go. Atty Gen James has far reaching subpoena powers. No telling what is going to shake out from this investigation. His name has been attached to other controversies in the past. I am not accusing him of those things. In an election cycle, all your weaknesses will be attacked. Lets not lose a sure thing with a democrat keeping the governorship or democrats running in NY having to answer questions about Cuomo.
I said in another thread, it was at this point in his career that his dad was beaten by a little known republican senator. Thank you for your service Gov Cuomo, thank you for providing leadership when we desperately needed it. Now please go. Take a break. Then go be a law professor or something.

He doesn’t need to run again but he shouldn’t resign anymore than Franken should have. There are procedures in place and they need to be followed.

No amount of smoothing or spin can overshadow the indelible photograph published in the New York Times on Monday night: Governor Andrew Cuomo, red-faced and leering, clutching the face of a woman half his age at a wedding while she recoils in disgust.

The photograph capped a week-long wave of reporting about Cuomo’s personal and professional conduct toward young women who work for or in close contact to him. He’s accused of forcibly kissing one, asking probing sexual questions of another, and generally acting in ways that everyone, save the governor himself, seems to recognize as gross.
What should come next for Andrew Cuomo is a swift resignation, followed by a statewide investigation.

Cuomo is on the national stage now. He's not going to escape deep scrutiny he's enjoyed for so long. His blockers will not work on the national stage.

to Franken. Let the investigation happen and let the chips fall where they may. We just saw what happened with Tara Reade accusing Biden of not just sexual harassment but sexual assault in a Capitol building hallway.

She was lying and has, along with her false charges, evaporated to who knows where. If we had forced Biden to withdraw trump would still be president and Biden was the one who could beat him.

I say no resignation, yes to due process, conduct investigations and get the facts.

We need to stop this rush to judgment and denying elected officials a chance to defend themselves.

As could well happen with the variants and red-state reopenings? Did he bring anything unique to bringing the cases down from the highest in the country to the lowest? If he resigns, will many lives be lost that wouldn’t have? Is his leadership in that now unwanted and not needed? I for one am hoping his apology is accepted, not because I like him so much but because he is competent in the area of handling the crisis many seem to think is over.

How does he with a straight face insist that he “never touched anyone inappropriately” when we have a photograph? He’s playing games with semantics.

The one where we have no context? Like the one supposedly showing Joe sniffing a little girl’s hair when he was comforting her at her father’s funeral? The one where Al Franken was making a crude but common joke hovering his hands near a woman’s breasts? A woman who’d been part of many of that comedy troupe’s jokes both before and after?

I don’t know enough to claim to be an expert on what happened. Maybe he did act in ways that made women uncomfortable. That’s not right. But killing off everyone who does something wrong in the midst of doing many right things doesn’t allow for anyone to learn, repent, gain understanding and empathy, and teach others. We lose good people and keep other good people from ever stepping forward into public service out of fear of being summarily destroyed for something they did in the past that is now used to hamstring them. And I don’t mean serious offenses. I mean things that fall into that vast shifting ground of perception by people who, like me, don’t really know.
