Ignore allegations as long as possible. If they don't just go away, grudgingly admit that the accusers might possibly have a right to be heard, but really can't this wait? If it can't wait, and people are insistent, stage the most kangaroo court you think the public will put up with. Get Fox on board to make repeated announcements of what a farce all this is. Flyspeck every last detail of every accusers' background and personal life. Bring on the demagogues to pooh-pooh all the evidence and testimony. Sob that the standards of today are being applied to the innocent fun we all enjoyed a couple of decades, years, weeks, days, or hours ago. Bring on the accused and treat him with a level of deference and adulation more properly reserved for a Nobel Prize winner or a living saint. Bring on a parade of witnesses supportive of the creep (mothers, wives, and daughters are best) to tell everyone what a swell fellow he is. Get ancillary stories going about any members of the panel who might have shady incidents in their past. One last round of savaging of the witnesses in absentia during closing statements, then green light the accused anyway. As a nice touch, admit that the accused might be a total jerk and a fraud, but more in sorrow than anger, you're going to have to give him a pass because it wouldn't be fair to everyone else who might come after whose behavior wasn't quite so egregious.
