Biden is a robot - Qanon

Not sure whether to laugh or cry. These individuals are walking among us believing this. We need to be hiring and funding more mental health resources. I saw this interview and thought God help us.

-snip
QAnon adherents apparently believe that Joe Biden is actually a malfunctioning robot wearing human-like skin.

The strange beliefs were revealed during an interview on CNN.

A panel of former QAnon supporters spoke with CNN reporter Alisyn Camerota about their experiences within the conspiracy movement.

He has accomplished more actual business in 45-50 days than Trump did in 4 years.

The contrast must blow their minds, so they have to come up with an explanation that is beyond human, thus robotic.

With brains never having worked at warp speed, it will take a long time for them to recognize this is just Joe.

Now it's very frightening to realize that SO MANY believe the unbelievable.

Right after the 2016 election, I visited my sister-in-law, whom I didn't see very often. She's actually the sister of the husband who died a few decades ago, but we occasionally keep in touch. I guess I must have said something about the election, and she blurted out that she sure didn't like Hillary. I asked her why not, and she just got a weird look on her face and wouldn't elaborate. I had heard that crap about the pizza restaurant, but at the time I really didn't think much about it because it was SO BIZARRE, and I didn't think any sane person could actually believe it.

How can there be so many batshit crazy people in this country? I just still can't fathom it.

They have little or no independent ability to reason through what does and does not make sense, what should or should not be believed. I've always known there were people like that, but what the Trump years and QAnon have made sadly clear is that there are many more of them than I realized.

If these people can find a social setting, which now includes online forums, where particular ideas are shared, accepted, and validated, they will accept those ideas. They have no solid filters based on logic or evidence, on any understanding of current science and technology, on any sense of probability or plausibility. Their primary motivation is finding a social group to validate them, to confirm their hopes and fears and prejudices, and to provide them with (however illusory) a sense of control and personal importance.

Not even the internal consistency, or, as is so often the case, the total lack thereof, matters. Breath-taking leaps of hypocrisy and self-contradiction are a breeze when the peer group approves of these things.

... in the "Weekly World News"

The Weekly World News was a tabloid which published mostly fictional "news" stories in the United States from 1979 to 2007, renowned for its outlandish cover stories often based on supernatural or paranormal themes and an approach to news that verged on the satirical. Its characteristic black-and-white covers have become pop-culture images widely used in the arts. It ceased print publication in August 2007.[2] The company has a library of 100,000 articles and 300+ original characters.

EDIT: Even though it's not in print at the grocery store checkout... they have a working website with current stories like this one:

ALIEN LANDS IN VERMONT
Gets Too Fat To Fly Home

February 4, 2021 by Chuck Upley

The quiet town of Newport, Vermont didn’t expect a visit from extraterrestrial life this summer but that’s exactly
what it got on a humid afternoon in June. Shocked commuters watched as a small spacecraft touched down near the
gas station on Sias Avenue around 2pm. The pilot, a tiny grey traveler, had apparently picked Earth as a vacation destination.
Once inside the service station, the vanquished visitor ate every sugary snack in sight. Weekly World News
went to Newport to get the story directly from those involved.

“At first I didn’t mind cause he looked hungry,” said Andy Munsch, the store’s clerk. “But then I noticed he
was naked and that meant he didn’t have any money on him. I couldn’t afford all that junk food coming out of
my paycheck so I had to call the cops.”

Toward the end, they had a distinctly anti-conservative spin in their salty painfully obviously tall tales.

Leaving behind one last conspiracy as to, that's why the tabloid was shut down. They shared some administrative staff with David Pecker's outfit at the National Enquirer and were based in Florida.

The 'Official' reason was that it had ceased to be profitable.

Now, alas, the only place left with the real news is The Onion. A poor substitute for the WWN.

folks who were either coming out of the woods in PA or down the OH River because they were
gonna attack the court house or some statue to the brave soldiers of the Confederate States
of America. Racism and ignorance are powerful ways to keep the dumb fucks stirred up. When
asked why they were out with their guns and flags almost always somebody would say that
they read about the BLM attacks on line or heard about them on some talk radio program.

Putin/Russia/Fox/the GOP/ and so on use getting the dumb fucks riled up as a way to keep power.
See Washington D.C. 1/6/21. BTW much of what QAnon is based on is an antisemitic writing from
the 1880s called the Elders of Zion. Although I think their morning meal of Crystal Meth and Budweiser
as they watch News Max helps to cook their brains too.

"Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt" = FUD.

"Fear, uncertainty, and doubt (often shortened to FUD) is a propaganda tactic used in sales, marketing, public relations, politics, polling and cults. FUD is generally a strategy to influence perception by disseminating negative and dubious or false information and a manifestation of the appeal to fear."
