Which would be worse for America ?

That Donald Trump and co-conspirators be charged and indicted for inciting an insurrection?

Or that they be allowed to escape any judgement or charges?

If they are indicted, it would likely create a political whirlwind that could lead to even more division, and perhaps, more violence? Is that a gamble worth taking? Is justice its own reward?

Or if they are allowed to skip any punishment for their crimes, will not people rightfully charge that some people are indeed "above the law"? Would that not do serious harm to our Constitution and our government?

This is a decision that must be made. Perhaps Merrick Garland has already decided?

Dividing the country is preferable to killing it. Letting them get away with it will mean more of the same in the future. I’d say nip it in the bud now, except that it’s already in full bloom. Cut it off. We cannot tolerate more. They could be successful next time if we just let them slide.

2. Letting them get away with it is not a neutral action. It is an act of encouragement.

It would be a signal to any who cannot win through good thoughts, ideas and thereby votes, should take control by violent means.

That brings in an extremely ugly future.

We've already got the whirlwind; we are rounding up the bad guys every day. Letting their leaders off will only embolden them.

iF B happens, we might as well bend over and kiss our asses goodbye because the nazis will have won and will make sure it succeeds next time.

5. If some people are above the law than democracy in this country is already dead.

How many people would just finally give up and try to live their lives as privately as possible, stay out of trouble, and let the politicians and government go hang. If their is no justice than what's the point?

Charge them.
Indict them before a grand jury.
Try them in court.
If & when found guilty, throw their asses in jail.
Throw away the key.
Do that slap-wipe gesture to demonstrate a job well done.
