New: The Secret Service told us it has no records of call logs for its top officials on Jan. 6, the day of the Capitol attack.
Were skeptical. Members of the Secret Service were at the Capitol with former VP Mike Pence.

Call logs simply document incoming and outgoing calls, like this record we previously obtained:

While the Secret Service was only one law enforcement agency present at the Capitol that day, we would be surprised if there were no calls made or received that day by top officials at the Secret Service.

(47,423 posts)They said they couldn't locate them. They could be telling the truth. The parties involved could have destroyed them, which is very possible if for any reason they are incriminating. That would also be an indication that the insurrection was planned from within the administration.

(9,986 posts)Surprise, surprise.
Edited to add a question. With the phone numbers of the SS agents on duty, couldnt cell phone records be accessed to identify calls, especially between from agents at the Capitol and the White House?
PatSeg
(47,423 posts)Or someone very close to Trump.
That's a good question though. Surely there are cell phone records for these agents. I think they will surface eventually.

(11 posts)Communication between agents and with offices are through secure military communications channels--they don't use the cell network any more than they do in "The Beast" or on Air Force One. This is not to say that there are not or shouldn't be classified records of those communications. But any such records would be directly under the control of the WHCA--and likely easier to delete or hide by corrupt officials. There would be no "cell phone records" of such communications, as we understand in regular life. There is no way, for instance, that you could call one of their phones directly from your own cell, office or home phone.

(47,034 posts)They didn't call their superiors to inform them?
They didn't call POSTUS SS detail to warn them?
Either they have doctored the messages or they are totally incompetent.

Perhaps the FBI's siphon of Capitol communications has something to add.

At any rate ,JB needs to deal with this.

Maybe the records only come in from the phone company on a periodic basis and they asked too soon... or maybe the GSA holds those records and asking the SS for them is the wrong process.
Just as likely... how often does the SS communicate by cell phone? The request doesnt seem to cover records of radio communication (or, for that matter, any texts or emails)

(36,053 posts)All fine and good that they "name" white supremacists as the national security threat, and yet they are another layer, the pro-white Republican layer, that lets them break laws.

(1,727 posts)They can find other jobs but not in the Secret Service. Same goes for any enablers. Hope a whistle blower comes forward. The whole point of transparency is to have records. No records was an intentional act directed by someone/s.

(7,403 posts)Who had security clearance to the records that are now missing? Did any of those people access records for January 6th? There should be records tracking the custody of those records including what action, if any, they took. Any whistleblowers out there? There should ne a log of every touch and by whom.
