So, time for a national mask mandate?

...a letdown of this basic defense against COVID spread could threaten to outstrip the effectiveness of the vaccine program, exacerbating the pandemic, especially in those areas which have persistent rises in cases, hospitalizations, and deaths.

At the very least, there should be uniform workplace standards, and universal mandates in those businesses and services which the government deems essential.

Individuals are difficult to monitor and police, but businesses and other entities can be held responsible for refusing to ensure compliance. I'd be surprised if this isn't seriously considered and pursued in some way in the near future.

(...no one in my workplace thought ANY mask requirement was coming when this thing started, as I warned them through my otc mask.)

in TX and the others where their governors have unwisely given the green light to the anti-mask idiots. Now it will be up to business owners, police, and the public to fight with these newly emboldened, selfish assholes over common sense public health measures. Somebody is gonna get hurt.

...with information that's been muddled, withheld, or deliberately distorted during the last four years.

On how the Biden administration should improve the COVID communication strategy: States should not be left to themselves to be making these very important decisions. If we have federal government aligning with all 50 governors, and then the governors aligning with their mayors and all the cities, it’s going to make it less fragmented. So much of what we’re dealing with is a deluge of information that is really difficult to parse. The Biden administration needs to sit down with every single governor and say, “What do you need, looking at the data in your states? How can we make sure that each county each town, is not experiencing and believing and communicating things differently?”

Tools like public service announcements and emergency text message alerts are absolutely available to government. But we’re dealing with a hyper-politicized pandemic right now. The consequence of that politicization is that agencies like the CDC have been limited in their ability to do such things. I’m hoping that will change as we see a shift in the administration, that they will utilize all these tools of mass communication.

Then they could claim Joe is a dictator, against freedom, etc. Seems extreme to bet their citizens for a political ploy but man, times be strange.

...with their continued support of the nation's most dangerous autocrat.

We have to start living reality again, fearlessly leading with truths, instead of our party reflexing to every demagougic utterance by desperate republicans. Our very lives depend on it.
