In case anyone still had any doubt, they published today a Political piece claiming that Republican anti-trans bigotry is really a defense of women and women's sports.
Republicans from former President Donald Trump on down are couching their opposition to expanding transgender rights as a defense of girls' and women's sports.
I won't link there, and I'd encourage other DUers to avoid giving them clicks in the future.
Now that Dems are in office, Politico seems to be going hard right to generate clicks and views.
Pure trash.

Politico is an industry publication, read by political professionals. Campaign tactics is a relevant subject to report on.

Eager to find a winning culture war issue, former President Donald Trump and other GOP leaders are increasingly touting themselves as champions of women in sports by pushing back against President Joe Biden's efforts to expand transgender rights. The effort which critics call transphobic and likely to backfire extends from the roughly 20 Republican-controlled states where legislators are advancing bills to keep transgender women from participating in interscholastic sports, to Trump himself, who told attendees this past weekend at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Florida that it was so important to protect womens sports.
This issue will help [the] GOP win midterms, said Stephen Miller, the former Trump White House aide who helped write his CPAC speech.

(34,195 posts)The Hill is often cited on DU as a source,
and it is often attacked by some for its right wing articles.
But it is a good source of articles on what is happening on Capitol Hill and I think for the most part it is a moderate to left new source.
I think the same can be said of Politico.
Some who do not like an article will trash the whole site.
This is of course my humble opinion.
Yours may differ.
