Sen. Tom Carper, lead sponsor of jobless benefits amendment: "It's gotta get done."

Sen. Tom Carper, lead sponsor of jobless benefits amendment that Democratic leaders are furiously trying to get Manchin to endorse, had been engaged in talks all day about ending the stalemate. He refused to comment about where things stand, only saying: “It’s gotta get done.”

As we enter hour six with no movement on vote-a-rama on the COVID bill, a reminder: this is the easiest thing a united Democratic Washington will attempt.

They only need 50, and the bill is super popular (it contains free money!) Every other Dem priority will be a heavier lift
