The difference between Bernie and Manchin?

Bernie might criticize the Democrats - he might really go hard at the party - but when they need his vote, he's almost always there to give it. Bernie won't vote down a compromise on the stimulus, despite not agreeing with the fact minimum wage is not included, or that the extension of the unemployment benefits was shortened (and the amount lowered). But Manchin absolutely would be willing to let this bill collapse in the Senate just to get his way.

It's fortunate the liberals in the Senate are willing to go along with compromising or this bill likely would be dead.

Now let's just hope the House agrees to these changes. If they don't - it just might be dead.

It seems to me he's doing the most he can to help the most people he can. I'm also very happy to see that he and Biden seem to enjoy a good rapport and a good working relationship.

anyone insinuating that he’s the problem lately is smoking something. Manchin has been the true thorn in our side.

Now that frustration I felt towards him back during the primaries seems so unnecessary and superficial. I'm really grateful to Bernie and all the supporters he brought along. Some of his well known supporters, like Michael Moore, really showed up during that last sprint to November.

Manchin puzzles me but reading posts here is helpful because some people have him figured out.

$300 and through to July and that's it.

That is what Manchin says he'll support.

11. Manchin met with the White House. He said he will not support extending unemployment to September.

The only other option is to adopt Portman's plan, which extends it to July at $300.

The hope now is that the more liberal senators support the change.

12. Agree. Bernie's base online can be terrible, but Bernie himself

usually sticks with Dems and the thing he shows compared to Manchin is empathy. Bernie won't let people suffer and (like Biden) fights with the spirit of FDR to get help to people. Manchin and the conservative Dems lack empathy - we're in terrible conditions with bodybags piling up and he's trying to squeeze off what regular people can get. Even Bill Clinton would not do what Manchin is doing in these conditions. His pro-business stance was in a different time when the economy was good. It's why even referring to people like Manchin as 'centrist' is not correct, as Manchin is much more of a conservative who seems more comfortable siding with Repubs on issues like this.
