Democrats are getting ready to pass an overwhelmingly popular COVID relief bill. Biden's approval is in the mid-50's. COVID cases are down and there's a light at the end of the tunnel. The economy looks like it's starting to rebound. Republicans have nothing right now.

And on that they would be somewhat correct, though it's unlikely to overshadow the relief bill once it's passed.

7. This point needs to be hammered again and again. Don't let them get away with their lies.

In 2022 it should be argued that the GOP is the party of lies, suppression, and oppression. Voting to elect Repug candidates is a vote against 225 years of democracy and in favor of autocracy.

It dovetails into their co-opting of the term "cancel culture" in an unfortunate way.

The reality is that media goes out of print all the time, books and music. It can't all remain published forever.

Dr. Seuss has 60 children's books or so. Dropping six which haven't aged as well as the rest of the catalogue wouldn't be a headline were it not for the politicization of it. I can see where this sounds like a "fake news" defense, but it is fake news.

These were created during and in the run up to WWII and showed what would be "racist" today.

My impression was that what the Seuss foundation was doing in not producing new copies of these books.

The long and short of any response (if one feels one must respond to their nonsense) is, "Indeed? What six books are you talking about?" They might come up with the Mulberry Street title, but the other five titles will be hand-waved away, which should be sufficient to expose the bad faith of their "argument."

11. Democrats are not the book burning party. They are also not book, reading, education party either.

I put a post on my FB the other day when a poster put up a rw bs about Suess on my wall. Deleted and then went after my Republicans who for a life time have criticized me for having books in my house and kids spending so much time reading taking away their childhood. Then to now complain about Dems and books, reading, education. It is a stupid hill for Republicans to stand on.
