Except for a few real brawlers in the House and Senate who, quite admirably, stand up with their backs to the wall, openly willingand who speak out even while chided by their peers, most Dems appear to shy away, not wanting to muss their clothes or ruffle any feathers.
I love our good manners compared to their crass lumbering, that said, Please fight for us Dem Congress Critters, and tell us what we can do.

(68,217 posts)have no ability to end the filibuster. Sen. Sanders knew once the parliamentarian decided against the minimum that we couldn't do it...should have been taken out of the bill...it riled folks up. We have opportunities in 22 if we can hold the house and not sulk because we can't get it all right now. The relief package is a good bill.

What scares the hell out of me is that many, including some here, keep buying into that "we need to sit back and win the next midterm/general bigger, then we can do something". I've been hearing that for 20 years. The fact is, if republicons are successful in their current attempts to increase the voter suppression and gerrymandering, there will be no Democratic wins in 22. Or ever again, in fact.
Their goal is an absolute hold on power. They're close to achieving that. Our #1 goal should be to stop and REVERSE republicon cheating and stealing. If we fail to do that, we will never be able to do anything again. Despite the fact that millions more vote D, and would vote D if able, republicons will take the offices. They haven't legitimately won a presidential election since Eisenhower. Millions more Democratic votes for the Senate and the House, yet asshole Republicon scum usually control one or both. That has to be stopped, and now is the last chance we'll probably ever get.
Permanent republicon control would mean no accomplishments for us, no ability to stop republicons from giving more tax cuts to billionaires and corporations. No way to stop them from undoing any Democratic accomplishments. That's the only two things they seem to want to do.
No way to force a republicon government to take necessary action when the next deadly disease shows up.
The way I see it, it's now or never and there is NO place for any kind of Democratic complacency. Our lives depend on it.
BTW, I agree the covid bill is pretty good and that is the way Democrats need to approach everything when dealing with republicon dirtbags.

is very close, almost word for word, for what many in Freeperville say about us.
By no means am I implying you are one but the arguments made by both sides are completely interchangeable.

(10,374 posts)they're being told. Rightwing radio and TV have to keep their audiences scared of something, and supporting them. Projection is one of their most often-used tools.

It's an effective tactic. A good example was to villainize Germans and Japanese so that the killing of hundreds of thousand of civilians( seniors, children, women, male non-combatants) by bombing was justifiable.

(36,093 posts)It makes for interesting reading over there about how they talk about the need to primary the RINOs, GOPe, Bushites and replace them with patriots who wouldn't be afraid to fight the for the country they want.

This exact argument is given in reverse on conservative sites. They say republican politicians are mainly wimps who bow to all Democratic demands .
