SDNY adds a conspiracy charge against Stephen Calk, the bank CEO, accused of issuing $16m in loans to Paul Manafort to try to obtain a position in the Trump administration. The jury hung on those fraud counts in Manafort's EDVA trial. Calk pleaded not guilty to bribery charge.

I remember this guy.... He thought his 16 million loan to Manafort bought him the right to be Undersecretary to US Army... His trial was delayed last-min due to 30,000 docs found in a locked office used by Mueller in Sept 2020.

SDNY just superseded Steve Calk, the banker who attempted to bribe Manafort for a Trump job by giving him a loan he couldn't pay. His trial is currently scheduled for June 2.

It adds a conspiracy charge to commit financial institution bribery, with language talking about Calk conspiring with The Borrower (AKA Paul Manafort).

A banker would want a return on investment. So he thought he would make more than $16 million Irish_Dem Mar 2021 #1
