Biden White House Fires Trump-Appointed Lawyer Who Refused to Resign in Defiant Letter

By Marisa Sarnoff Mar 6th, 2021, 9:52 am

The White House has fired Sharon Gustafson, general counsel for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, after the controversial Donald Trump appointee refused to resign in a defiant letter to President Joe Biden.

Bloomberg Law was first to report Gustafson’s firing Friday, and shared the letter she wrote to Biden. She refuses Biden’s request that she resign, noting that she was appointed to a four-year term. “Unless prevented from doing so, I intend to honor that commitment,” Gustafson wrote.

“One of the issues she made as her hallmark, was the issue of discrimination against religious minorities, the law requiring religious accommodation of beliefs,” former EEOC general counsel under Obama David Lopez told the Washington Post. “Some lawyers from the conservative Christian right view this right as a conflict with requiring nondiscrimination against LGBTQ people.”

Under Gustafson, the EEOC had sued Kroger, the grocery store company, after employees complained that wearing aprons that had a rainbow-colored heart on them violated their religious beliefs, as the employees “believed the emblem endorsed LGBTQ values.”

Only thing she qualified is the Fed’s “Shoshilist!” long term health care insurance, as long as she pays the premium out of her own pocket.

There might be circumstances of, say, employee malfeasance where they might lose either way, but I'm not sure about that.

Either way, being fired for cause or quitting disqualifies you from what you call Unemployment benefits, and we call Employment Insurance. It was changed from UI to EI some years ago to be more positive-sounding.

Someone that is fired may or may not be owed 2 weeks notice, and during that 2 weeks, gets to use the company car, if any, and so on.

other Trump appointees who acted in bad faith and in alignment with the entities they were charged with regulating. In her case I believe there are rumors of collusion and cooperation with certain right wing faith oriented groups to enact restrictive interpretations of the 1st amendment to enable persecution of LGBT+ people by so-called "Christians", and to formally limit federal authority in civil rights cases. That is NOT part of her job description and she was definitely coloring far outside the lines of previous enforcement.

..... is the concern we should all have.

I'm waiting for DeJoy to get his traveling papers. The sooner the better. I live in a small town 8000-10000 (winter-summer). Our post-office and the service were impeccable. Our mail always arrived within a one-hour window. Now we never know.

Based on the USPS website we know that we have packages sitting in the post office for 2-3 extra days. Some of them have included medication and food products ordered online (to avoid shopping where people may not be wearing masks).

more there.

snip-"Sharon Fast Gustafson was nominated to serve as the General Counsel of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) on March 20, 2018. She was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on August 1, 2019 for a term ending in 2023. She is the first woman to serve as General Counsel at the EEOC.

Gustafson has practiced employment law for 28 years. Prior to joining the EEOC, Gustafson advised and represented both employees and employers in employment-related legal matters as a solo practitioner in Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia. Gustafson began her legal career in the labor and employment law group at Jones Day in Washington, D.C., where she practiced for four years.

She earned her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, cum laude."

Expect from here on that the RepubliCONs will do anything and everything they can to obstruct anything the Dems and Biden try to do.
Not a lot different than what they did during the last two years of Obama's presidency. But this time it will be a lot more intense and with a lot more money behind it. They already are masterminding a way to take back the House, and/or the Senate in 2022.....
If they get either, it is all over folks.........

About 6" x 10" that had a Dove with an olive branch below a rainbow and the package stated it was an international
peace symbol. Friends stated the rainbow in the back window of a white car was a nice touch as it stood out. But as
the years progressed people started saying I should remove it before some LGBTQ hater took a pop shot at me in a
road rage incident. I'm a straight male. Sure enough, it took around 20 years and one night on I-35 in Wichita a car
passed me and a hand gun came out his passenger window pointed at me. I stood on the brakes and watched the
flash from the pistol and he sped up probably so I couldn't get his tag number. This is what happens when the
republicans make mountains out of molehills, (think Mr Potato Head & Dr Seuss) their clan goes nuts with hatred,
even at an international peace symbol. To them ALL rainbows are evil.

that diss the rainbow. It is good to remind them what their god told Noah about not bringing on another flood:

Book of Genesis -

8 Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him: 9 “I now establish my covenant with you and with your descendants after you 10 and with every living creature that was with you—the birds, the livestock and all the wild animals, all those that came out of the ark with you—every living creature on earth. 11 I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.”

12 And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: 13 I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. 14 Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, 15 I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. 16 Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.”
