Unemployment Insurance question

Does the stimulus extend Unemployment Benefits for those of us about to run out completely? I can’t find an answer.

I’ve been on unemployment for a year. I’m in Texas and I’m now on “extended benefits”, which will expire next week.

I posted earlier about job searching. For every job that is available in my field, I’m seeing as many as 200 applicants per job opening. I AM looking - desperately, in fact, but finding nothing.

I understand that the $300 additional amount has been extended for those eligible to receive unemployment benefits. But is the actual base unemployment extended for people like me? Will I still be eligible?

Yes. Like the others, we will not have to really do anything, it just rolls in. Taxes and ACA. LizBeth Mar 2021 #2

This is a 26 week extension with a $300 bonus. So whatever you’re getting these last few months is extended thru September 6th and now comes with $10,200 of the income being tax exempt.

I understand our taxes will be horrible. ACA I declared 25k a year which has always given me money back. 2020 my taxes are showing almost 30k. So between them not taking enough taxes out and me going over my ACA bill, I can owe around 3k. They are declaring that there is stuff in this bill that will help with that. I am going to a bookkeeper next week and am going to ask if I need to wait a bit before filing, if this bill will address some stuff in my taxes so I will not owe as much.

UI we are covered thru Sept 4.

I know you understand what this means to us as we’ve discussed before.

I am so grateful... Every day has been a challenge to stay sane and try to keep going.

Edited to add: I am being very realistic in my job searching, too. I am looking for pretty much anything that I could pay my bills on and have enough to eat. The days of “doing better” are long gone and it is now all about survival.

totally around 7k cause they can't afford it while raising kids. They have good pay, they go out to eat often, drink lots and buy whatever but cannot pay me back. I have tried to explain to them I will never be in a position again when I can save anything, grow my money or look for increase pay. I am now at a point in life just looking to cover bills. They do not get it. so you saying " now all about survival." is right and reminding me of that conversation. I am in Oregon and minimum wage is increased every year and I have two more year increase. it will get to $13.50 an hour which means a lot of places will pay around 14 an hour. That helps a lot. I can almost cover all my bills with that. It is the thousand here, 10k there for the unexpected like if I have any medical issues that are going to be the scary.

It is tough and a bummer knowing fear is a part of every day in the future even if now is covered and ok. Gotta live in the now.

Take care. I will try to remember to come back to you after the bookkeeper if I hear anything interesting but one of the tough things with finding a job is memory is not the same .

I’m sorry about your situation with your niece and nephew. People, most of them anyway, don’t IMHO understand things fully until it happens to them. Or perhaps they just don’t care to understand.

It’s scary to think how rocky the future is after working our whole lives. I get up every day scared of what may happen next. I am grateful - so very, very grateful - to have Biden instead of Trump.

Let’s stay in touch and help one another through this.
