I already hate Republicans. I don't want it to be deep and personal because they killed my mother, but they're setting it up for that to happen.
Meanwhile, people around here are jumping the gun, like the whole pandemic is over NOW. Tonight, I drove by a little Mexican restaurant we used to frequent. The parking lot was jam-packed. There is no way anyone can maintain a safe distance inside those cramped little dining rooms -- or the bar. Next stop was the grocery, where a couple of blank-faced, dopey looking teenagers were wandering around with no masks like they didn't have a clue (I gave them one, but they ignored me). Neither cashier nor mgr did anything to enforce the rule, beyond having posted signs at the entrance and in each checkout line (which obviously didn't work for these two dipshits). Living in a red state has always been unpleasant, now it's gotten way too dangerous.
ETA: She now has an appt for the 16th. None for me yet, I'm under 65.
We will be SURE to let the state Health Dept. know we don't need that 26 Apr appt, and I hope others will do likewise, so those appts don't go to waste.
I'm still pissed at maskholes and other Uglicans. That will need no updates.

(51,584 posts)(CVS and groceries) tell people who aren't wearing a mask over their nose and mouth to put it on correctly. I always thank them since I know they have to deal with maskholes all the time, even though I live in Southern CA.

(11,282 posts)And asked if there were any extra vaccines at the end of the day and he got in for one. That's a potential way too. Better to use them at the end of the day than waste them. Good luck

(58,785 posts)a vaccination situation that's changing dramatically, for the better!, every week around the nation.
Itm, remember that few become seriously ill and way fewer die. Even with preexisting conditions, and I assume the current wait means she's not in a high-risk group.

(41,127 posts)categories are expanding too, mainly age- under 60 and more.
But something sooner should still open up for your mom, keep at it and all the best.
The website, vaccinefinder.org includes grocery stores and pharmacies.
I hear you about red state blues-- things are becoming quite dangerous.

(36,259 posts)... but we've been trying others too. We recently learned the clinic where we get our family health care will not be getting any vaccine after all. We had been thinking that would be our best chance.

(3,626 posts)In southern Louisiana I became technically eligible this week. Put myself on waiting list at a pharmacy local to my place of work on Monday. Honestly didn't expect the call, but got it on Thursday, shot in my arm on Friday. Sucker is still a little sore. But they are rolling this shit out fast. I wouldn't trust anything that says, particularly for an older person or someone with comorbidities, not until April.
