(58,618 posts)At least his faith is real. Funny how so many "Christians" fawned over Trump, who hardly ever set foot in church.

(3,246 posts)A church? I dont remember one time that he did it on his own because he wanted to go to church. Funny how all those religious nuts excuse that.

(3,615 posts)He knows if he goes in the holy water will boil and the walls will start to bleed. Best to just stand outside and hold the bible upside down.

(11,562 posts)In retrospect, I believe he was being a toddler, just parroting a word he had heard. Needless to say, Presbyterian leadership was very happy to hear this, and 3 leading dignitaries made an appt. to meet with him between the election and inauguration.
He made a comment about doing well with "you evangelicals" at the polls, at which point one of the 3 corrected him saying "We aren't evangelicals, we are Presbyterians."
Trump's response?
"But you're Christians, aren't you.?

(2,020 posts)I felt a bit sheepish after I posted because I didn't want to offend DU members of other faiths or atheists, but my post was most definitely heartfelt!

(31,261 posts)I have no issue with people of religious faith expressing their faith, as long as they dont try to reduce those that dont believe as they do.
I am not religious, after giving up Christianity as an adolescent. But when I think about the world around me, I always come back to a conclusion that my life has a purpose that I am unaware of and every decision that I make is from ones that have been pre-planned for me. So I am a Deist, my Church is nature around me and in that church lays my fate, a fate that no decision that I make can change.
Call that flaky if you want, I am very rational minded and have thought this through quite a bit.

Should we follow Trump's example?
