Some real intellectual powerhouses in the Dem youth/youngins corps. I hope they are being taught the nitty gritty ways to negotiate bills through the House and Senate. The various arcane rules can be mind boggling.

4. Good post. I wouldn't try to compare LBJ and current leaders, though.

LBJ, having to operate with most of today's rabid trumpists in his own party, nevertheless, among other big advances, forced the end of 70 years of institutionalized Jim Crow.

He did it knowing full well that the liberal Democratic party would be paying the political bill for that for decades.

He knew of course that it would cause America's conservatives, including the rabid Southern con faction in his party, to finally consolidate in the Republican Party. He could not have foreseen the cesspool of unprincipled corruption and betrayal the GOP degenerated into. I think.
