(14,966 posts)There are a fuck-ton of highly qualified and famous people who have never spoken at the Republican National Convention in our party. We don't need him, and a lot of us don't want him. He has more ambition than principles. Endorsing Biden/Harris does not wash his previous record away.

(36,745 posts)But he would be only one of many candidates, as you state.
The next President should be President Harris.

(14,966 posts)one NON-heartbeat from the presidency.
There are no trial runs as VP. Selecting a VP is selecting a POTUS. That office isn't some junior varsity team from which you may, possibly, at some future date, if all goes well, perhaps select one of many to fill a needed role in the next rank up. It's literally the next POTUS if anything happens to POTUS. No take backs. No waiting period.
This guy is deeply unqualified, even setting aside his history as a Repuke, and to treat the office of the Vice President with such nonchalance is ridiculous in light of the fact that thus far 8 of 45 presidents whose terms have expired did not survive said term. It's just grossly irresponsible to even consider.

(25,853 posts)Has he announced any intention of running for any kind of office? Why would anyone think that some random actor would make a good President? The only actor President we've had so far was a disaster.

Al Franken is a rare exception. He is highly educated in history and political science and was close friends with the late, great Paul Wellstone, who sort of mentored him in how Washington works.
