Governor Kate Brown
@OregonGovBrown
There have been rumors and misinformation about the Johnson & Johnson vaccine since its FDA approval, so I got the one-dose J&J vaccine today to show all Oregonians that it is an incredibly safe, effective, and convenient way to protect themselves and their loved ones.

you get the single dose or you get the double dose, you don't get both of them

(36,745 posts)I remember reading a article that discussed the possible benefits of having an mRNA and adenovirus based vaccine in tandem. Britain is testing it.
Each one generates slightly different antibodies. The idea is to generate a broader spectrum for neutralizing the virus and a higher boost as well.

If the British tests pan out. Then people who get the J&J should be able to be boosted with one dose of Moderna or Pfizer.

Every week my office hears the question: If these vaccines are so safe, then why hasnt Kate Brown gotten one? Brown said.

As she is only 60, she had been holding off getting vaccinated since the vaccines were prioritized for those 65 and over.

(82,849 posts)And I'm okay with that. I'm also okay with my wife getting her shots before me. And my step-daughters. And my step-daughter's wife. I'll wait my turn, because it's not about me, it's about the public health.
