(15 posts)From what I remember, it was passed through reconciliation on a party-line vote with a much much bigger price tag. The main difference is that it did not have massive support from the general public.

(5,276 posts)He was fine ramming things through when he had a slight majority....and even broke precedence by stonewalling Merrick Garland from being appointed to the Supreme Court for a year while ramming through Barrett 6 weeks or something like that before the 2020 Election.
So he is a total hypocrite.

The American people now have a clear choice seen back to back within a matter of weeks...Trumpism or Bidenism...pick one.

(18,477 posts)I am so tired of GOP bullshit. I gather many here at DU share that sentiment. Let us fervently hope it is also shared by the Dems in Congress, and that we will see more examples of them not tolerating GOP crap in the future.

(833 posts)foreboding feeling that he'll make us pay? He'll surely try.
When things come to this kind of utter partisan failure to negotiate, there's no denying that our government is broken. We're holding on by having the White House, a narrowing majority in the House, and the most tenuous of margins (thanks, Manchin) in the Senate. If either one of the latter two swings to the repugs in 2022, we can kiss all this jubilation goodbye. Everything depends on voter turnout and thwarting repug efforts to suppress the vote.
