With the COVID bill almost complete, what is next big legislative bill that should be address? Infrastructure, health care, minimum wage, or other
Personally, I think minimum wage should be address first. This topic is a major button atm and will be a major thorn if nothing is done before 2022. It is pretty obvious that $15/hr will never pass the Senate. How about $11 - $12 /hr? I know this was not the amount promised, but it is a start and can hopefully be adjusted later if we gain more seats in the senate next election. Many states will never budge above $7.25/hr if not done thru the federal level. This measure will significantly help more people than any one time stimulus check. American poor need a concrete fix.
However, if you think other areas should first please share your thoughts? Fixing sky rocket health care prices should also be high on our agenda.

2. The John Lewis Voting Rights Act, which restores much of the voting protections in the original act, including requiring monitoring of states that are known to violate them.
3. The George Floyd Police Reform Act.
A lot more is in the works of course, but these 3 enormously important, historic bills were just passed by the house and are the next big battle in the senate.

It will put BILLIONS into the economy boosting employment and incomes.
KEY: A great economy can prevent Republican gains in the mid-terms that could flip the Senate back to a Republican majority. God, help us all.

(49,445 posts)It should have been done a year ago when the roads and bridges and airports were so much quieter. We could have dumped cheap money into it, slowed the job losses, and rapidly fixed stuff that normally takes years.
And then take a hard whack at UHC, while people are still used to the government paying for all this stuff.
Make an small attempt on the minimum wage now on the off chance it passes, but really it should be saved as an election year issue at this point. Sadly.
