A man in Texas filmed himself berating staff at a Trader Joe's grocery store after being denied entry for refusing to wear a mask. The video is now going viral on social media, where he is being derided as a male "Karen."

They have a "right" jerk to refuse to allow or NOT allow anyone in there store and then you bring your kid along............can I fucking just come into your home without permission, I don't think so, there are rules that a company puts in place to protect everyone and you and your family..........

(13,427 posts)Even IF he truly has a disability that prevents him from wearing a mask, as long as the store makes a reasonable accommodation (like curbside pickup) he has no case.
Second, what a horrible example he is setting for his children. ME! ME! ME! He sounded like a lunatic.

(5,347 posts)I havent been to a Trader Joes in a year, not wanting to go into a people-dense area. With guys like this, Ill wait a while longer. Sob.

(16,131 posts)Limits the number of people allowed in the store at any one time. Sometimes you have to wait outside (6 ft apart, of course) and they let you go in when someone else comes out.

(26,980 posts)And why didnt they just tell him to go to another store?
What a terrible role model for his children. I even heard his kid say theyd it want us here. I feel so sorry for those children having a father like him.

(27,208 posts)his head would have really exploded...............I and you and everyone else are entitled to safety, hell, I bet when he got on plane he didn't know that when I was working on it, and it went down, and if I was found to be at fault, then I could go to jail, and his family then could sue for negligence, bet one dollar that they would, but for him to go in there and do what he did as a employee I would sue him seriously. The company is trying to protect me and my family when I go home and other people going into the store........... enough is enough............deny him service...........

They just don't get that it's private property and that they're protecting staff and shoppers against cooties.
As for his "disability," I suspect it's supratentorial. That's a fifty dollar word meaning all in his head. Anyone with that severe a respiratory disability wouldn't be out shopping and giving long winded bogus arguments to people who are just doing their jobs.

(22,333 posts)I was going, "We understand all right. We UNDERSTAND that you're an entitled, privileged, hateful, selfish, rude, creepy, deranged, wacko, crackbrain NUTJOB."
And I agree with those who are dubious about his having a disability. He certainly doesn't seem to have anything wrong with his lungs. He seemed to have plenty of energy and never got out of breath during that whole rant. I'd be willing to bet that the only "disabilities" this jerk has are of the mental variety.

(3,246 posts)to deal with this. I think there should be very loud alarms when someone like this enters the store. The alarms go off and all the employees run to the front and create a wall of protection to prevent this person from entering the store. Once he's inside, he's essentially an "active shooter" and innocent bystanders could get hurt. This is outrageous. The workers need to be trained how to handle this. If masks are required, plan for people like this.

The largest grocery store chain in Texas updated its policy Friday, March 5, saying mask use at our stores will remain for shoppers, employees and vendors.
Costco also requires masks for both customers and employees. It too says this is to simplify its policy and avoid confusion.
Sprouts will still require customers wear face masks saying it is doing so in light of CDC recommendations. Sprouts has face coverings for free for those who do not bring their own.
Target says it will continue to require customers entering the store to wear masks. Target says it will provide customers with a reusable or disposable mask if needed.
Walmart requires masks for both customers and employees. It says this is to simplify its policy and avoid confusion. However, Walmart has said employees are not required to enforce the stores mask mandate.
Wheatsville Co-op released a message on social saying despite the state relaxing rules, at this time we are choosing to keep our staff and shoppers as safe as possible when in our stores and will not be changing our safety protocols. Wheatsville added it will change this when leading health organizations recommend it.
Whole Foods requires all shoppers and workers to wear face masks. It provides face masks for free at all store entrances for customers who do not have their own.
In a new statement Friday, March 5, Randalls said masks WILL BE REQUIRED for workers, vendors and customers, regardless of the statewide mandate being lifted

I would refuse to be in any establishment that allowed such a person inside. He is disturbing the peace and a germ spewing menace.
I wonder if the girls' mother knows her ex is using their children as a human shield when they are in his custody? NOTE: I am simply assuming that he is divorced based on his personality exhibited so clearly.
