Some recent historical perspective about the covid relief package...

It really started last fall, in the House, where Dems cooked up a package that McConnell basically sat on.

After the election, and during the changeover interlude, McConnell still refused to consider the package, and even shut down the Senate and sent them home to protect WHN from the impeachment trial, thus giving WHN the out on a technicality that he was "no longer in office."

Biden gets inaugurated, and quickly comes up with a proposed bill, based almost completely on the House Bill that was already out there.

The House takes the Biden proposal, which was pretty much what they had already voted on in the prior session, massaged it a bit and sent it over to the Senate. Sen Schumer takes it up, maneuvers it through the arcane Senate rules and manages to herd the cats that are the Dems in the Senate and gets the damn thing passed with no help from repubs.

Now, the House will pass it Tues-Madame Speaker Pelosi will make sure of that-and it'll be on Pres Biden's desk by Wed, Thursday latest. Signed by Friday and enacted into law.

Pretty good work, all in all.
