Was just there last week. Had a great time. Saw plenty of folks wearing masks and it was easy to find a mass vaccination site that was jabbing 2000+ people a day.

I live in the state. On some days when I go to Publix, everyone is masked up, on other days, I see people willfully walking around without masks. One day I saw a woman not using a mask while shopping, but when she got to checkout right behind me, she had masked up.

I personally have no issue with wearing a mask, I seldom have it on for more than 15 minute stretches when shopping. I refuse to dine in, only takeout. I believe that leadership matters. If DeSantis regularly wore a mask when at public events and stated that results show doing so to be an excellent idea (like DeWine in Ohio said today), Florida would be open AND people would not be getting sick.

The 2000+ per day vaccinations per site is ALL FEMA, Florida has nothing to do with that other that giving FEMA eligibility information.

by FEMA, not the state of Florida.

DeSantis had made a fucking mess of things.

The Biden Administration’s decision to supply Pharmacies directly is starting to have an impact beyond the mass vaccination sites run by FEMA. Even Churches in Black areas are getting small allotments, that really helps lower the resistance to getting vaccinated among Black people in Florida..

Despite all of the above, 2000+ People a day was attending the Mass Vac Site in Florida off of I-275 at the Dog Track and information was readily available on the Media daily during the visit, PLUS Freeway signage and overhead sites denoted were the Mass Vac site was and exact what exit to exit off of.

Regardless of who is doing it, it was getting done in the part of Florida were we vacationed and Florida residents were wearing masks. The end.

That was pretty thin, they'll have to come up with something better this time.

when the kids are home are asking for trouble.

Like Governor DeWine said today, “in the earlier outbreaks, we were learning about how the virus transmit, now we know what works, masking and social distancing”. When those are done intelligently, economies should be able to open without problems.

I've been working on a post to end Florida bashing once and for all. I'm about a year into the second paragraph and was planning on posting it before season opens this fall. Maybe if I hurry and get it done so people can still feel good about visiting.

Take your time though. I've got to rewrite the first paragraph.

But as I assume in most states, in more urban areas people wear them. In rural areas, not so much.

I now have a script to get one even though I’m not 60. Thankfully Biden is opening up FEMA sites with no crazy reservation required.

Even with increased supply the demand is outstripping the supply. Especially since the state is pretty much contracting it out to republican donor businesses.
