(11,796 posts)Season 2 is a lot of nonsense to get you to season 3, which is EXCELLENT.
Best part of 2 is Pike.

(128,150 posts)It also reconciles some of the items where the show varied from canon (e.g., why we never heard of the spore drive).

(500 posts)First season was unexpected and very satisfying.
Second season was utterly brilliant - parts of it brought back memories of me at age eight watching the first run of TOS season 3.
Third season? Even better than the first two.
And I cannot wait for STSNW, hopefully this fall. Hit it!!

(6,496 posts)When an actor can come on for what was really a minor part and STICK THE Landing with it so damn well that not only does he take the part and elevate the chsrscyer honestly to where it should be but at the same time unite 95% of Fandom being the chsrscyer and performance... And then get a freaking show created for them just because he is that damn good.
Hit it! Indeed

(19,879 posts)I know some of the fanboys are very, very angry about some of it, but I liked it.
Solid storytelling with strong female characters.

(7,086 posts)...and I found Discovery to have a few good moments - but far fewer good moments per screen minute (and per production dollar) than any other series with one recent exception. Discoverys writing is inconsistent and the quality is scattershot, the firings in the writing room resulting in some real plot problems.
But even still, Id much rather watch Discovery than Picard. That series is the real disappointment, imho.

(4,044 posts)Kirk and Spock are my boyhood heroes.
Picard is my young adult hero -- a roll model for any man.
My four-foot-long blueprints of the Enterprise proudly hang on my wall.
I say, "Star Treks Picard and Discovery are fabulous. Outstanding! At times rivoting. Always detailed and interesting."
Just so you think I'm not a blinded, total-Trekkie fan boy, I thought DS9 started out good and then devolved into an atrocious, unwatchable soap opera. At times, painfully bad.
I thought Enterprise started out weak and then in 3rd and 4th seasons, became the best Trek ever.

(6,496 posts)Probably in Strange New Worlds. Then a full spinoff after that is being considered

(10,602 posts)Phlegm-slurping Klingons who look nothing like those we've ever seen before, the spy/mole story that was telegraphed from a mile away, etc...
The good news is that it gets quite a bit better in 2 and 3, except when they dip back into Mirror Universe shenanigans. But that was a rough start.
