Spring Break is coming and Walt Disney World is already booked to capacity. A new report from Walt Disney World News Today shows that the calendar is all fun through next week and things arent much different at Disneys Hollywood Studios. You would expect this kind of ramp up as people across the country get restless despite most areas being nowhere close to full vaccination rates. However, it has gone to enough people so far that there might not be the potential widespread issues that would have existed just a few months ago. Earlier this week, when word got out about the California theme parks like Disneyland, Disneys California Adventure, and Universal Studios beginning reopening next month, it was easy to see the writing on the wall then. There was always going to be a rush of people clamoring to get their Disney visit in the moment that the gates were open to the public again.
If youre an Annual Passholder, there is some good news if you act fast. Most of the parks are still available, but that wont last long. Regarding masking guidelines, Disney has not adjusted their stance. When Disney Springs opened up last year, Disney Parks chairman Josh DAmaro talked about the new normal on the ground with CNBC.
We figured out a way to really push hard on technology, really accelerate some of the ideas that weve had for a long time, he said. So you think about things like reservation systems in the parks that we can manage capacity and therefore guest experience a little bit better. Its working exceptionally well for us.
Things like mobile order, Roger. So you can walk up to a restaurant, have your meal ready for you when you arrive. Things like queue reservations systems that were executing in different ways, Amaro added. Or even how you might pay for merchandise but without transacting with a credit card. And this technology, it doesnt only help us during a time of a pandemic, but I think it actually leads to a better cast and guest experience. And so, these are things that are helping us now, but I think theyre here to stay.

(25,471 posts)I don't see anything about the limits in that article, though I only browsed it. My apologies if I missed it. CNN notes that they're at reduced capacity, but doesn't list a percentage.

A travel site notes that it's currently 35%.

See, GOP, it can be done.

You are masked. The distancing is enforced. We went to T-Rex for dinner and the tables were separated way more then six feet. We went to Gidian Bakery and only 6 people were allowed at one time all masked of course. Its as safe as you scan get. I guarantee I do not have coronavirus from that trip.

Spacing strictly enforced. They have been opened since early fall following the science. Not one outbreak traced to them. Same as the other parks in central Florida.
Amazing if you listen to science things can work out.
Under Floridas regulations they could have gone full bore and opened up totally. Chose not to do so.

(11,914 posts)We head down to my in-laws this summer. In lieu of a big 21st and 28th bday bash, Our first stop is the GA Aquarium where we got my son a ticket to dive with the whale sharks (he just completed diving instruction, waiting for a certification appt). Then were treating our daughter to a lunch (outside) and some shopping at Disney Springs. Hopefully well all be vaccinated by then, although I know my SIL, MIL, and FIL plan on refusing the vaccine in FL.

I've been to several other theme parks in the past, and sometimes the crowds were really annoying. In reality, since almost everything is outdoors in the many theme parks, things like masking and enforced social distancing probably aren't that necessary.
