Johnson & Johnson's vaccine has some unique features that make it the single best tool for ending th

In years to come, the COVID-19 vaccination rollout will be seen as a historic effort between the public and private sector, but for now, the Biden administration and states have their work cut out for them. Vaccinating an entire country is no easy feat; it requires coordinated planning between manufacturers and distributors. And a successful rollout can occur only with a strong, transparent supply chain. The logistical requirements for production and the increased public demand for timely vaccinations are at an unprecedented scale, but the approval of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine may be the jolt this effort needs.
Injecting optimism in our supply chain

From a supply-chain perspective, the J&J vaccine is one of the most efficient tools available for accelerating the end of the pandemic. The newly authorized vaccine creates supply-chain benefits that allow for fast, efficient, and safe production, and production of any vaccine is the first step to the pandemic's end. But unleashing the full potential of the J&J vaccine to reach target vaccination goals will depend on transparent distribution and planning by the federal government and states.

The J&J vaccine offers several advantages for realizing vaccination goals. The vaccines in production — the messenger RNA Pfizer and Moderna vaccines — were developed faster but require technological upgrades for some existing production facilities. The J&J vaccine, on the other hand, mirrors the types of vaccines that have been produced for years and years, so existing plants can start making it right away — with the potential of producing 100 million doses for the US vaccine supply chain from mid-March to June. Once produced, the J&J vaccine will be easier to store and ship, as existing cold-chain technology will suffice and extremely cold facilities will not be necessary.

For those of you doubting the J&J vaccine, doubt no more. This is big and it could be huge for ending this nightmare and getting us back to normality. The J&J vaccine is one shot, does not need a follow up appointment, and can be produced and modified without resorting to being stored at sub zero temperatures. If you can take it, get it!

In my state, NM, they apparently tell you what shot you're scheduled for when you finally come to the top of the list. If you refuse what's offered, you get put back on the wait list. I might hold out at least once for Johnson & Johnson.

Wife and I are ecstatic.

Both had headache and sore arm, had to drive about 60 miles to a small county but totally worth it.

In 2 weeks we will be protected from dying from covid-19 of going on s ventilator.

I actually feel like I can volunteer at summer camp safely now.

I was certain that Covid Kimmy in iowa would screw things up so bad it would be next year before I got a vaccine.

Luckily, a friend let us know about the special event and there were slots available.

of people that don't like getting shots. Let's see, do I want one shot or two? No brainer.

Myself, I've had both Moderna shots with zero side effects, so if we have to do it again next year, I will repeat that if I can. I don't mind getting shots.

or Moderna shots as far as I know. No study has directly compared them. The J&J vaccine was studied in it tougher environment with more variants and showed good protection against them. It may end up having better protection against the variants for all we know. I am glad you got your shot, but we should not spread the idea that the J&J vaccine is less effective. That might prevent people who could get that vaccine from getting it.

for the Pfizer and Moderna shots than those published for J&J, absent currently developing variants. Since I am already immune-compromised and specifically prone to lung infection, that could make all the difference for me.

In medicine, if you want to know which treatment is more effective, you compare them in the same trial. I actually would feel more comfortable with the Johnson and Johnson vaccine because its effectiveness was validated against the newer variants.
Every expert opinion I’ve read says that you cannot conclude that the J&J vaccine is less effective.

The higher efficacy rate is important to me because it means that I am less likely to pass the virus on to somebody else, since I am less likely to get it.

The 49 days number is indeed impressive:

"... the vaccine is 85% effective in preventing severe forms of COVID-19. And the efficacy of the treatment increased over time, the company said, with no cases in vaccinated participants after 49 days."

Is J&J better or is MODERNA and Pfizer better ?

Is MODERNA and Pfizer as good as JJ at preventing against severe disease ? Or vice versa ?

Is MODERNA and Pfizer as good as JJ at preventing against admission to hospital ? Or vice versa ?

I wrote to the CDC and didn’t get a straight answer.

so I'll go ahead on that.

However, I will definitely NOT repeat any BS about the J&J vaccine. To the extent I trust the one I got, I trust the others as well.

Best advice I've heard: if you get a chance to get vaxxed, don't worry about which one, do it.

Thanks for this! I've been looking for real scientific info & comparisons of the 3 vaccines. Tired of hearing about the Catholic Church BS concerning the J&J vaccine which I think is irrelevant. The truth is for the next several months, MOST of us will not have a choice. MOST of us will take the first (or only) thing that's available, and that's as it should be.

We're living with this Covid virus longterm and the choices we make now will impact the children yet to be born. Stay well everyone! Mask up and get vaccinated as soon as it's available.

I grew up in the 1950's when every child was given smallpox and polio vaccines, and I remember being tested for tuberculosis every year during grade school. Booster shots were required at many schools, or at least conscientious parents made sure their kids were covered for whooping cough, tetanus, and diphtheria. When measles shots became available most parents wanted their kids protected, unless they had already had the measles.

What has turned this into the circus is the campaigns by the crazy "anti-vaxxers" of the last 10 years or so. Most of them are nuts, and they have kicked it up a notch with their crazy conspiracy theories. We need to get back to real science and keep the crazy opinions out of this.
