Finally got my $1200 "stimulus check" today.

Originally...via the IRS "Where's My Payment" site...I was told a check had been mailed.

Then I got the Trump form letter telling me my prepaid debit card had been mailed.

Neither of these things happened. I don't know if they were lost, stolen in the mail, I got nothing.

My accountant filed my taxes, and the $1080 check ($1200 minus the 2020 taxes I owed) came today.

A big deal on one hand, maybe not that big of a deal on the other, but my way of thinking is that I was every bit as entitled to that money as every other American who received it, so this feels right. It's always a good day when the things that should happen DO happen.

???

My husband got the first round but not the second. I'm assuming that's what happened to his payment—the govt is holding it for tax payment. I didn't think they were supposed to do that. ???

ORIGINAL CHECK: Everyone got $1200

DECLARE IT ON YOUR TAXES AS LOST / NEVER SENT: $1200 minus what you owe for the current tax year.

At this point, $1080 is better than $0, which is what I had from them in 2020.

The ONLY reason the IRS said they'd withhold funds on the original check was for back child support.

If you declare it on your taxes, what you owe for 2020 will be deducted.
