(113,208 posts)It is as though each meld into the other and words, even if they could be shared, are so unnecessary.

(71,519 posts)much I miss him. He was a little Pomeranian name Benjie raised him from a pup...a teen girl in hubs office got him for Christmas but wasn't home enough to care for him. So we bought him. I wish he could have stayed a bit longer...never enough time.

(113,208 posts)it really does lessen when you finally feel ready to welcome a new furry babe. For me, it took 18 months of cathartic (frequently sobbing) long walks by myself. But, it will come and boy do they make your life so much better. In the words of the great, late Will Rogers: "If there are no dogs in Heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went. I think that sums it up for all of us who adore them.

(8,672 posts)and Buck (Corgi) died it took awhile and many walks, tears, and finally smiles before I was ready again. Now I have two to take away the tears - Scout (Mixed) and Alexander (Great Pyrenees). I occasionally call Scout by Caleighs name but thats ok. I figure it is Caleigh telling me that having Scout and Alexander is the best thing I could ever have done.

(12,018 posts)well it all hurts. I'm down to one old dog who can't do the walks anymore. I don't even feel motivated to walk without a best friend with me. A spot that no human can hold.

(53,339 posts)after the summer was done. I didn't want him alone all day. I got that dog in July and my senior dog passed the night of the 2nd day back to work. I am not sure if I would have gotten another dog after Hershey passed had I not gotten Scooter before he passed. I am glad I did though, but I do sometimes wonder if Hershey thought I was replacing him.

Just demonstrates we now have an honest governing President in the White House rather than a clown show.

I love this picture of the 3 of them. You can tell Champ is "on point" with Joe and Jill.
Some great Americans in the oval office picture ... Joe, Champ, George, Abe, FDR, Jefferson, and Hamilton
or Adams.
Champ is an IMPRESSIVE German Shepard!!
Botany
(76,714 posts)Champ besides being the family dog also had an other job and that was to keep his
people safe. Just looking @ him in that picture you can tell he is ready to keep any
threats away. And now that his days are getting fewer to see him in the oval office
or Joe getting down on his hands and knees makes me happy.

(7,150 posts)She's a Shepard and hound mix and her back legs are giving out....
But she's the sweetest, most lovable dog ever.
I will ball my eyes out when I have to put her down. And I'm a big, dumb fat-ass liberal....
who is sooooo cynical I never cry at ANYTHING.

(7,150 posts)it's just so hard watching my little girl, who could outrun greyhounds at the dog park, struggling to stand up and walk normally.
Yet she seems happy....good appetite...uses the back yard facilities without a problem.....
it's just sad....
Botany
(76,714 posts)Yes it is. No way around it. Is your dog free of pain? Eating & drinking? Able to pee & poop?
Any night terrors?
AZ8theist
(7,150 posts)Yes, she eats and drinks fine. Pees and poops ok. No night terrors.
She can't hear as well anymore. It's just heartbreaking watching her struggle to get around. We treat her with doggie aspirin, and hemp as well. But she seems happy. Walks are out of the question, but we massage her legs every day. It seems to help.

(1,979 posts)Love the photos. Love the sentiments but the anthropomorphic dog speech nonsense and those silly misspelled words don't do anything for the dignity of these wonderful ANIMALS, yes, animals. And before you start the flame, I have 5 rescue dogs, having recently lost my elderly blue heeler, two cats, and make my way in life as a dog trainer who owns and runs a free-range boarding and dog daycare facility. This is my opinion only.
so sorry you are offended.
I love it and that is my opinion

(415 posts)Great you help so many animals, but let people fawn all they wish. It doesn't bother the animals, except for you.
AZ8theist
(7,150 posts)I've had rescue dogs all my life as well. They are like children to me.
And you should be well aware that when speaking to them, in a calm and soothing voice, not unlike when talking to a child, creates a warm, comforting and safe atmosphere to an animal that may have been abused in a former life.
When posters attempt to express those communications in "silly misspelled" words, they are only trying to convey the love they have for these animals. "Dignity" has nothing to do with it.
NONE of us discuss Shakespeare or Newtonian physics with our 3 year old children. But we do baby talk. Our dogs are no different.

Dogs give back more love than they receive.
EDIT: Just noticed Joe is still fit enough to get down on one knee like that.
Doing well, he is!
Could an Republican dog lover imagine #45 posing in the same picture?
But I guess Republicans aren't dog lovers!
