GOP senators want to force banks to loan money to gun companies

By Josh Israel -March 8, 2021 2:59 PM

Most Senate Republicans are demanding special rights for firearms businesses.

A bill filed last week by Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-ND) would grant special anti-discrimination protections to gun companies and other socially irresponsible businesses. And most of his GOP colleagues have signed on as co-sponsors of his bill, which would require banks to loan money to firearm and ammunition manufacturers.

In a press release on Wednesday, Cramer touted his "Fair Access to Banking Act" as "a bill to prevent discrimination by banks and financial service providers against constitutionally-protected industries and law-abiding businesses."

If enacted, it would bar banks and credit card companies from deciding not to work with gun-related businesses or fossil fuel companies — even if they deem it a long-term financial gamble to do so.

This "guy" is worried about gun rights, he fucking voted NO on helping people in his own state with economic relief, but some corporations that kill people with guns is more important, kind of has his priorities all wrong.....................what a sick asshole

Let us know if you get a response, not gong to hold my breath, its like waiting for answer when you roll your finger tips on a table, when you deal with these people, it is just amazing how they think, he voted NO to help people, just so that he can get some right wing talking point in about gun rights to deflect his NO vote..........

.... a standard gun control method.

The bank lent the money to the gun manufacturer to make guns. Someone bought a gun and it was used at a school shooting. The parents of the dead children sue the bank for having lent the banks money to the gun manufacturer to make the weapon used at the school shooting.

Without the banks money the gun manufacturer did not have ample funds to continue the operation of his gun manufacturing factory. So without the bank's capital loan that gun could not have been able to have been made.

The negligence of the bank made the negligent homicide possible.

stay in business? The gun manufacturer must be a piss-poor capitalist.

Seriously, I get what you're saying. But I have to wonder if the problem isn't so much lawsuits as it is people threatening to boycott businesses who invest in gun manufacturers.

.... except when the notion comes to shoot someone in the head. Then the government must rule against the banks,... and rule for the gun manufacturers and the assailant who has a bullet to gift to someone else's head.

How fucked up is that ? Stop right there,... you have no rights to stop a blood bath. You must allow it and encourage it to happen.

But a legislative move to afford extra Constitutional protections to an industry that has no purpose in life other than to arm everyone in this country - be they be psychopath, sociopath, or just plain nut-job, deserves nothing other than scorn and contempt.

I fill my Virginia deer tag every year, and continue to enjoy target shooting; but the NRA, and every sycophantic congresscritter who continues to attempt to latch on to that rapidly drying up money source can kiss my ass.

Simply get a senator from a blue state with legal weed to push into a bill an amendment that either deschedules, or moves into Schedule V (most of the drugs in Schedule V are available OTC at any pharmacy) cannabis products. By doing so, the legal cannabis industry would also have "fair access to banking."

Actually, I don't wonder that at all. Advocates for bank services through the post office are trying to make access to the financial system easier for po' folks without having to resort to the payday lender loan sharks. So I'm pretty sure I know where Sen. Cramer comes down on that issue.
