also let them decide what highway speed and which side of the road are "right for them"?
Why should a state demand that citizens "give up their rights" simply to drive a vehicle on public highways? Aren't these choices that should be "left to individual Americans"?
Hm-m-m?

(44,062 posts)The idiots protested against it, and they finally settled on, well, even if you werent wearing the helmet you had to have it with you. So a whole bunch of so-called macho guys were going around with the helmet strapped on the back of the seat. It looked pretty stupid. And I wondered how stupid they would feel when they were flying over their bike onto their head and could see the helmet protecting the seat of their bike.

(9,060 posts)He was riding his bike and got slammed by someone, went flying and ended up with a severe brain injury.
In his documentary ("When Billy Broke His Head and Other Tales of Wonder"
he describes the accident, and then jokes, "Good thing I had a helmet strapped to the back of my bike" or words to that effect.
He spent time in intensive care in a coma, and then underwent a long and difficult rehabilitation.
The film is well worth seeing, if you can get hold of it. A really nice introduction into the disability rights movement of the 1980s and '90s, and a glimpse into the life of someone recovering from that type of devastating injury. Despite the serious content, Golfus has a nicely twisted sense of humor that places the film outside the usual "inspiration porn" such topics generally elicit.

(37,622 posts)It isn't. These States with their "right for them" attitude which is in fact, "RIGHT for them" know that their minions will keep those who choose to protect themselves and others from privately going about their business via intimidation and violence.

I was in South Georgia last week and I think that mask wearing must be illegal there. I saw none......
