...thinking about an IRL occurrence while Donnie Dipshit was still occupying the WH, although a little more targeted, taking out only him, his cabinet and all the Republicans, and sparing the Democrats.

leap to mind. They can't announce the date, and I hope most will attend from their homes. Or at least large numbers.

after the 1/6 incidents.

There is still some worry about the SOTU?

The show had the theme that the ordinary Sec. of the Treasury made an especially honest president - the old "ordinary people are the real heroes" thing.

And wasn't it the Senate majority leader who had started the coup? Interesting indeed!

Yep:

Kiefer Sutherland stars as Thomas Kirkman, an American academic named as the designated survivor for the State of the Union address, who suddenly ascends from the position of U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development to President of the United States after an explosion kills everyone ahead of him in the presidential line of succession. Kirkman deals with his inexperience as head of state while looking to uncover the truth behind the attack.

3rd season was a Netflix original - it was a little edgier. I thought the whole series was well done. And after the Jan. 6 nonsense, the series premises not so far fetched.
