I had the TV machine on this morning, and saw most of her appearance on Morning Joe. As always, I truly appreciated how damn good she is. Honesty and intelligence are such a great change.
But then, at the end, Mika asked her about Major, and the story we saw here last evening that the Biden dogs had been taken back to their DE home because of an "aggressive incident". For the first time, I was so disappointed in Psaki for not having an answer, and for dodging.
Yes, it's a politics show, yes her job is to represent the administration and discuss issues. But c'mon, man! She should have known that the public wants to know how the dogs are!!!
Next daily press conference, she needs to start out with a few seconds to let us know how the dogs are.

(10,435 posts)When I moved, it took about a month for my dog to "relax" and adjust to the new place and neighborhood. And it's nowhere near the change that going somewhere like the White House. I take her on a lot of trips, and now she is not bothered by new people or places, seems to like it actually.
I'd just like to know about their dogs. It's a break from political news and shows the Bidens' decency.

"Who did Major bite?"
"What did the president know and when did he know it?"

(999 posts)Dogs bite when stressed or feel their human is in danger. In my experience with family dogs, not security or police dogs, the bitten human has been irritating the dog and the the dog has given them plenty of warning to STOP! The human wasnt listening. FWIW cause I really dont know what happened in this particular incident.

(1,478 posts)The worst are the fear biters because they lash out quickly and often with little warning.
Dogs operating out of prey drive like a pit bull are dangerous also.

Dog gate!
At least no one is trying to dismantle our democracy! But make a mistake in a question about the dog! Oh no!

(10,435 posts)I'd also think she would have been glad to have a little bit of time like that to talk about dogs, instead of taking a question from a newsmax asshole asking about tRump.

(18,874 posts)Getman Shepherds are very protective and having a lot of staff and security running around would be very confusing for them.
They are better off at home where it's quiet and they are familiar with their surroundings.

(10,435 posts)run free so soon in that kind of environment. I loved seeing the pictures and video, but I would think it would take a little more adjustment time.

(15,265 posts)All of them seemed highly intelligent, some were very docile, some required maintenance around people and a few were down right menaces.
We had friends with a very large female shepard and she was the sweetest dog. They had moved to the Cape and we visited one weekend with our little dog who was dwarfed by the Sheppard. Our dog carried his favorite toy at that time, a little rubber ducky that he was very protective of, into the backyard. They had a nicely fenced in back and we spent the day barbecuing and socializing. Their Shepard mothered our little dog who was not used to be around other dogs and they played all afternoon. Our next visit was probably the following summer and the second their Shepard saw our dog she ran over to a bin that they kept things in the backyard and grab the rubber ducky in her mouth and brought it over to our dog. We had forgotten it the summer before.
On the other end of the spectrum I've seen some that were menaces. I had a large paper route when I was was kid and had to develop the ability to deal with aggressive dogs. Some people are foolish when it comes to trusting their dogs. I had a more the one customer with fenced in front yards that let their dogs run free and demanded that I open the gate, walk to their door and put the paper in a box or between their doors. They would give me a show an tell to show me how friendly their dogs was. Usually and indication that they knew that their dogs was a handful. However when the weren't around, the typical delivery time scenario, a few of the dogs were downright dangerous. They would growl, bare their teeth, try and nip at my calves or otherwise try and bite me.
It was one of the largest paper routes in town and I couldn't take 10 minutes to get past a dog. So I developed a thick skin and would do my best to think and show no fear and shield myself from getting bitten. I would stare right into their eyes and point at them. It worked some of the time.
Well after that long winded tale what I learned is that I never wanted to own a dog capable of or prone to be menacing or causing injury.
There are dogs that can't be left unmanaged around people. No matter how much faith we have in them.

(10,435 posts)There are a lot of dogs which are perfectly friendly while the owner is there and interacting with you. But when left alone, their territorial instinct to guard will take over and they will do their "job".

(10,435 posts)I think she's great, as I've said. She's never dropped the ball on political or issue topics and handles the OAN types perfectly.
I was surprised she answered Mika's question about Major the shelter dog that way. If I were her I would have been so glad to have a few seconds at the end to talk about dogs instead of tRump or Moscow Mitch.

(10,435 posts)In fact, I clearly distinguished it from the everyday political and issue part of her job.
A lot of people do care about dogs, including Bidens' dogs.
