The white to vote

2. No excuse absentee voting was a policy created in 2005 by REPUBLICANS in the Georgia legislature and signed into law by the REPUBLICAN Governor, Sonny Perdue
It was part of a package of voting changes, including requiring a photo ID to vote in person
3. Although Republicans decided everyone now needed a photo ID to vote in person, no excuse absentee voting did not require any form of ID.
Why?
REPUBLICANS ARGUED THAT ABSENTEE VOTING WAS MORE SECURE THAN IN PERSON VOTING
This is from the @ajc in 2005

4. For 16 years, this policy remained in place without a peep from Republicans.
Then, in the 2020 general election, no excuse absentee voting was used more by younger Black voters
All of a sudden, no excuse absentee voting was a SOURCE OF FRAUD
5. Today, Republicans are making the EXACT OPPOSITE ARGUMENT they made in 2005.
Magically, in-person voting became the most secure and absentee voting became ripe for fraud.
There is no evidence for this.
It's breathtakingly cynical.

6. The real give away, however, is that while Republicans voted to end no excuse absentee voting for most people, they created an EXCEPTION FOR ANYONE OVER 65.
Coincidentally, older voters who vote absentee are overwhelmingly white
7. This is not over. The bill has only passed the Georgia Senate.
Civil rights groups are calling on corporations based in Georgia to speak up.

(6,265 posts)to segregation for me in Amerikkka, looks like. Possibly involuntary servitude. Unless I do a bleach skin regime, my skin colour(kinda joking) will be the death of me if at 73 I am not dead by the time the GOP of racists finishes taking the vote away from those younger than me in those MANY red states trying to get rid of the right to vote of POC.
I served this country in our military, now millions of my countrymen and women will be and are hated again because of the colour of our skin. And only openly expressed as widespread hate again because of d. trump, s. miller, a. jones r. limbaugh and the many 'leaders' in the House and Senate openly hating POC and minority cultures. I curse their souls every day may and when they and all the humans they cherish know excruciating pain for an eternity.
I am goddamn sick of these mofo's.
